Has he ever gotten a scoop? Sounds more like a commentator than a reporter with sources and inside knowledge.

Well said. I would also go beyond that and say that he was as disappointed as the rest of Rocket Fans. He hit the home run but the out fielder caught the ball after it went over the fence. Almost the Grand Slam!

Morey has been the progenitor of an a new generation of GMs, there were a lot of old GMs who hated the way he did business, teams such as NY, Detroit, Philadelphia to name a few, they're all but gone, anyone that didn't adapt is gone, every last one of them, that's also why the hoodwink deals are gone, the other teams replaced their dead weight.

The only old school GM left is Mitch Kupchak, who adapted and who seems to have a pretty decent working relationship with him, even Riley and Bird have hired people to do the day to day stuff because it's just too active these days for their liking.

All GMs have peers they wont do business with (division rivals, scorned lovers, etc...).

I am too lazy to do the research, but I feel like Morey has done business with at least 15 teams since he has been here. All it takes is one guy in the room to take the bait.

Here's what a lot of you don't get. Perception is reality. It's not about logic, rationality, or prudence. What Morey did the "right" thing by not matching Parsons. Problem is Parsons doesn't think so because he is emotionally involved and he has a right to do so. In his mind, he feels like the Rockets didn't care enough about him. He saw them going after Bosh when he was right there waiting for attention. Maybe he doesn't realize that the only way we could sign him was to sign Bosh first then to sign him afterwards. If so, he's misguided. But, at the end of the day it doesn't matter. It is his perception that he got shafted. Whether that perception is wrong, it doesn't matter. The concern is that players talk and agents talk. The NBA is a big fraternity. Even though Morey is doing everything right from a business sense, we all know that when players say "it's just a business", we know deep down inside they feel something.

I guess this means you would rather have the GM everyone loves doing business with...

Stop being obtuse. You said "random people" to imply that they are basing their thoughts on nothing. He and his team of NBA writers talk to players, coaches, front office guys, etc, and have much more credibility than just a random fan.

I'm not saying he's right... I'm just saying it's not two random fans talking.

I am not a conspiracy theorist. But the past week did look like some people were out screwing Morey.

    * The timing of the Parsons' offer, not to mention the ludicrous terms (e.g. what was the trade kicker for?)

    * The timing of LeBron's decision

    * The timing of Riley's offer to Bosh right after Morey dealt Lin to free cap space

It did look like they all came together to give Morey the middle finger.

Other teams' fans may think this, but other teams' GMs do not. GMs are successful people or at least have incredible connections. They are very confident, if not over confident, in their own abilities. They care about their own team and making deals that align to their set out goals. A GM is not going to not do business with a GM because "he doesn't like the way he does business". A GM is going to execute a deal that aligns with the goals he is trying to accomplish regardless who is on the other side of the deal. Two GMs that have a relationship like Morey and Hinkie might be more likely strike a deal, but I dont think it works the other way around. If a GMs was not willing to strike a deal with another GM because "they dont like the way he does business", he is pretty much conceding that the opposing GM is more skilled / better than him.

I think its his double chin. I never trust a man with a double chin, especially like Morey's.

I am not one to believe in conspiracy theories.

Parsons has made it known that he felt disrespecting by the rockets front office for not considering him a star, and apparently Dallas' front office made him feel like a star. Right or wrong this is how Chandler felt and Cuban likely told him that the deal was only good that first day free agency opened.

Lebron is the best player in the world. He can do what he wants and make others work on his schedule.

Riley had just lost Lebron and Riley clearly was not about to tank. He saw how close Bosh was to signing with the Rockets (or at least how close Bosh's agent said he was to signing a deal with Houston), so Riley offered him 5 years at the max with the money that would have gone to Lebron. Bosh had made it known that he and his family enjoyed living in Miami, but he did not want to take a significant pay cut. Honestly, if Lebron had stayed in Miami we might have had a better shot at signing Bosh.

not sure if this has been mentioned, yet in this thread: Many GMs do not like Cuban because of the way he does business, too.
