and a 23 years old Melo is better than Manu at his 23s its not even close. Whoever chose Manu is short sighted. for the best interest of this franchise, I believe any manager would go with Melo who has another good 9-10 years left in the tank other than a "soon to be retired manu".
Again look at the premise of the question: If you could add one of these players to the Rockets next year (nevermind how it would happen or what we'd have to pay them), who would you rather take? Please consider winning a championship as the chief criteria, not your personal like/dislike for the player. Who do you think would be willing to accept being the third wheel on a team with Yao or T-mac? The guy who has done it already in SA? Or the 23 year old who wants to lead his own team? If it was who would you start your team with for the next decade, of course Anthony is the pick, but that wasn't the question asked.
two things, melo at this point is a better score than t mac, so he would have to be the second wheel, secondly, how do you know what he's willing to accept, day one he's been the man in Denver. third, he's got just as much success as Yao and T mac why should he have to backseat? not only are these post really misrepresenting manu's greatness, they're misrepresenting yao's and tmac's edit: i guess that was three
melo is a better scorer than tracy, but with tracy's passing I don't think melo is the better player, so I don't think he has to be the second wheel. On your second point, you are right I don't know what melo would do in a situation like this proposal, but why would you gamble on how he would adjust to having to share the ball more often when ginobili has dealt with that and thrived his entire career? The question is which player would give the rockets the best chance of a title next year. Third, he wouldn't automatically have to be the third wheel, but he would have to deal with not getting as many touches as he does in denver. And he has yet to prove he is interested in anything other than scoring. Lastly, I'm not overstating yao and t-mac's greatness or manu's. If I needed a player to carry a team, i'd go with anthony, but if I need someone who can adjust their game to co exist with two other stars, i'd take the guy who has proven he can do it in a similar situation already.
I don't think Melo is ready to come off the bench for Tmac for about 10-15 minutes a night considering him being a starter for the Nuggets, on the other hand Manu is a great off the bench player him and Luis have chemistry so thats another plus.
Sssshhhhhhhh Alot of Manu-heads will dog Horry and not give him his props. . . go figure Rocket River Horry for the Hall
What makes scoring the only qualification as the "first wheel"? Nash is not the best scorer on his team. But nobody question he's the first guy. He has proven to be a malcontent when things are not going his way. You think he is willing sacrifice his game for the good of the team? Good luck. Because both Yao and T-Mac have proven to be team players. That's what Melo has never shown. I see a lot of people misrepresent Anthony's greatness too.
manu is the better player and a winner. but i would never, ever be able to root for manu. it would be so hard having him on my team. he's way too good, imo, to play the game the way he does. he cheapens the game, and does not play real basketball. if you were playing a pickup game, and some guy was playing and he played like manu, flopping and just being an overall *****, would you like him? no. you would punch him in the nuts. i'm going to abstain from voting as i can not in good faith vote either of these guys.
nash is a point guard, that's a different animal when, who has he to defer to on his team? how has denver been hurt by the so called malcontent? just like in old steve francis arguments, how many games should this team be winning you mean the same tmac who b****es about talent everytime he gets bounced in the first round, the same tmac who admitted quitting?
T-Mac is a point forward. BTW, Ginobili led the Spurs in scoring in regular season. Is he their "first wheel" by your logic? Remember the Olympics? There were plenty of guys he should defer to. Every time? BTW, a lot of people, coaches and players, have said T-Mac (and Yao) are great team players. Melo, on the other hand, has always had the reputation of being selfish and immature.
