For $20 million, Manny better hustle and pinch hit with a sore throat. Hopefully, this will be a wake up call to him... or maybe not.

Since the Redsox are trying to unload Manny Ramirez they might have a trade in the works for both Wagner and Hidalgo. Then the Astros with their extra cash can acquire Pettite from the Yankees.

Thats what Kornheiser just suggested on PTI. I think the Sox would really love not facing Pettite in the playoffs anymore and they would alos get a dominate closer.

I can't get to the link since I am at a school computer, but on ESPN's site, Peter Gammons suggests that Manny actually came to the Red Sox mgmt and suggested that they do this - put him on waivers. So, that makes me feel better since he authorized them to do that.

Nobody is going to pick him off of waivers. As it has been mentioned before, the Yankees are the only team who could do it. But think about it, why on earth would the Yankees pick up that monster contract? That would effectively give the Red Sox 20 million more dollars to work with. Steinbrenner is not going to do anything to help Boston, even if he does get a quality player like Manny.

I guess you don't know that the Yankees are estimated to be worth $15 BILLION. :)
