I could care less that Mayweather beat Marquez, I am comparing their skillsets as it pertains to fighting Pacquiao. Marquez is a precision counter-puncher with a great straight right hand; Mayweather is that + a long, stiff jab and the ability to lead. Marquez fought Pacquiao at his comfortable weight, and Floyd would fight Pacquiao at his comfortable weight. If Marquez had a good enough chin to deal with Pacquiao's power, I would assume Mayweather does as well.

Anybody picking Pacquiao to knock Mayweather out assumes that Pacquiao has improved dramatically since the Marquez fights. Even the biggest Mayweather haters would have to admit that the Pacquiao that fought Marquez would be a significant underdog against Mayweather (ignoring the difference in weight classes).

About the jabs: Cotto's jab is a lunging power jab which put him in range for Pacquiao's assault. Floyd has 5" reach advantage on Pac and Cotto and leans back when he jabs. Floyd also jabs to the body to set up his straight right.

Anyways, people will have their opinions either way and that's fine. I just want to see the fight get made.

Mayweather won't fight Pacquiao PERIOD. He will ask for a 60/40 split and and the talks will end. This will make mayweather look like a B*tch and end the discussion.

"Money" fought a down hill fighter and Pac fought a champ. I see this drawing out till next fall.

Manny is THE best fighter this decade no discussion.

Not really. Maywether's chin has never been tested, partly because people can't get to it. I expect that Pac can and will get to it often, just like he got to Marquez's chin, or did you forget that Marquez did get hit plenty. If you believe that Mayweather's chin is as good as Marquez's, then we'll have to agree to disagree. It won't be. Something else, Marquez was never really hurt in the mayweather fight. Mayweather won basically by defense and decision. When manny comes at him like a tornado Floyd isn't going to see those punches.

manny is a freak'n machine. if cotto didn't start dodging him in the 7th, the fight would've been over with a tko. i'm not an avid follower of boxing, but anyone... even my never-watch-sports gf knew the fight was over after the 5th round.

one thing for sure is that manny always puts up an exciting fight.

so manny wont fight him either? i know there's no reason for pacman to be on the short end of the 60/40 split, but it goes both ways. mayweather wont fight him unless he gets the 60/40 split, but neither will pacman at 40/60 (and i hope pacman beats the hell out of may)......

Great performance by Manny tonight. Completely surprised me. I think Cotto should retire.
I give Pac 100% credit, he is truly something spectacular. We should all consider ourselves lucky that we are able to witness greatness.

As for a fight with Mayweather.. Apparently negotiations will start on Monday. So will it happen? Arum said only if Mayweather handles the negotiations in a professional manner and not in the media.

Mayweather came out of retirement specifically to get a crack at Pac. He will finally get it. I don't think Pac can beat Floyd.. Floyd has the advantage in everything except punching power.

    Floyd is faster...much faster. I can't wait. Mayweather - Pacquiao 2010!

Uh...what? I'm having trouble even saying that he's at par with Pacquiao. Certainly not faster than him.

Awesome fight. Every time I have seen Pac Man fight it's been entertaining.

What I find interesting is that Manny seems to show something new every time. He opened it up against Cotto, but was much more conservative against De La Hoya. It seems he can adjust rather easily.

Early on it really looked like Cotto's speed was impressive. But it didn't take long for Manny to put an end to that. Hell of a fighter.

Man I hope Pac/Money happens. I'm already hyped.

Does Bert Sugar have a blog of some sort.. He seems to dress as if he's in the prohibition era during a shoot out in Chicago west side.. The guy is always at every major boxing event, has he written anything new?

I really don't think it is about speed. I used to. It is about how manny is able to create angles of punching power out of desparate stancss. Manny is the most fluid punching machine I've ever seen. He has freakish superior balance. If you believe that Money is going to be able to create distance between him and pac the way he normally does it with his flexibilty at the waist and head movement, you got another thing coming.

Pac is able to knock you out while you are hitting him. I just don't see Money being able to dodge pac. Of course he could run, which is what he'll probably try to do. The difference is that Pac can hurt you with one punch and how will Money's speed and defense hold up after he suffers 4 or five rounds of the pac-man typhoon. I predict he'll slow down just like cotto did.

Even Mayweather, SR doesn't want Floyd to fight manny.

So, what do you guys think about Cotto's future? To me, the problem is not him being damaged from a skills perspective, it's that he is now a bleeder almost to Battier's legendary level. He's gonna have to deal with cuts, bleeding in the nose and mouth, etc. in future fights.

As for Mayweather... who else is he gonna fight besides Pacquiao?

Is Pac-man insane. He comes to the ring with the craziest looking smile.

I am still stunned by Pac's dismantling of Cotto. I mean Cotto wasn't no paper opponent and Pac undressed him. It is absolutely unreal what he did to Cotto.

I mean privately all the experts I'm sure were whistling a different tune from their prefight hype. I don't think many of them truely believed that this was going to be a fight manny would even win, much less dominate.

    Pac is simply amazing.

Glad to see you giving Pacman credit. Like many others, I believe you were one of the folks that said Cotto was too big and strong and would dominate Pac. Hoesntly, I was surprised at how one sided the match was. Those knockouts seemed to come out of nowhere. Pac also took some heavy shots too but kept coming. Man I hope we get a Pac-May fight soon. C'mon Floyd, take the 50/50 split.

Really? Pretty much everyone I know thought Manny was going to win. The announcers just try to make it sound like it will be an even bout just to hype it up. And no, I' am not Filipino, I'am actually Mexican.
