    To the Morey haters,

we got Lowry for Rafer Alston. Essentially, we could trade Rafer for Pau right now. Incredible move.

    Rockets showing some loyalty

Thank you Rockets. At least were showing some loyalty. We love you, Kyle.

Lowry's value is how cheap he is too, and he would be the main piece in a Deron Williams deal. You can't get Deron with Dragic.

I am praying that the Lakers take a look at Dragic/Martin/Scola...

I'm not so sure Gasol is worth Dragic/Martin/Scola now. He isn't playing at the same level, that leaves us thin at two spots in the lineup, and we wouldn't be getting Nene alongside him. If we could do it for just two of the three + spare parts, I would.

If we had kept Jeremy Lin, this would have been more enticing...

But even then, I don't want to imagine how the good the Lakers could be with Lowry.

I'm glad but not surprised Morey won't yield Lowry in a trade for Gasol. I don't want to hand Kobe another title, nor see Lowry playing for Pure Evil.

We do need a talented big in the worst way, just not at the expense of our best player.

No way we move Lowry, but Dragic, I think, would be a great fit for the Lakers. I would hate to lose him, and Luis, but you have to give in order to get. This deal would work:

    Rockets:
    Pau
    Goudelock
    Morris

    Lakers:
    Scola
    Dragic
    Hill
    Williams

We get Pau, can try out Goudelock, who could become a rotation guy for us, and Morris is cap filler (expiring contract) to make the deal work. The Lakers get a smart, tough, producing PF in Scola, who's contract is a good deal for his production, IMO, and they get Dragic, who fills the hole at their point guard spot. They could give him an extension at the end of the season. My guess is that both of them would enjoy playing in the spotlight of LA. The Lakers can try out Hill and sign him this summer if they like what he brings. Williams? Maybe he'll have better luck there than here. If not, then like Hill, he's an expiring contract. The Lakers get younger, except at the 4, and that's where Hill should be playing, anyway. He could give them depth at the spot, and at the 5, like he does with Houston.

Yeah, I rarely do this and it should have been in the Trade thread. Sorry!

Gasol is either being overvalued by Lakers management or they are using these guys' name to jack up his value. No way would I trade Lowry for Gasol. Maybe if we were close, but we are borderline rebuilding. Gasol makes no sense any way you slice it.

Lowry will have to play 42 minutes a game if we trade Dragic. Flynn sucks so bad.

This trade makes sense for all parties:

    Nash, Scola to LA
    Pau to Houston
Derrick Williams, Ridnour, Tolliver to Phoenix
    Martin, NY 1st to Minnesota

Pretty much the original deal for Houston without Dragic being involved this time.

We might be contenders with Lowry AND Gasol and a deep team around them, but giving up Lowry FOR Gasol makes no sense.

Let's be clear. Gasol is a superb talent. He is a top NBA center. But he is far from the franchise type player the Rockets need. Even when in Memphis, a much younger Gasol, and at the time unquestionable all-star could not do much to pull the Grizz out of the basement. Why would the Rockets trade their best player for him now?

With the amount of point guards in the West, Lowry might never make an all-star team. But he is the top player on the Rockets squad. With Lowry going, the Rockets are in the middle of the playoff team race.

Lowry is a 6 foot tall point guard who averages 15 pts., 8 assists, 5+ rebounds, and 2+ steals. Chris Paul and Westbrook look to be entrenched as point guards for the next half decade, at least in the West.

    No deal...

Interesting how Lowry has become a "marquee player" Lakers would trade essentially a top 15 player for.

gotta hand it to Morey on how he turns nothing to something, if only he could turn something to everything.
