I had a feeling no one with a brain would want to see a Sexy Albino Hulk- Christ continue to butcher the qb position worse than his girlfriend butchers the eardrums of millions.

I assume the prognosis is: "He's on schedule." But I'm guessing he still has a long way to go. Do the Colts jettison him if was healthy and capable of performing? Maybe; probably (it was the smart play, regardless, IMO). I would further guess, from Denver's perspective, it's a risk worth taking -like Boselli was with the Texans. The upside is worth the potential downside.

From what I can gather, Manning didn't want to play with the spectre of a super-bowl or bust hanging over him all season and didn't want the media circus of a manning bowl that wasn't also the Superbowl.

I don't think the 49ers were the best fit for him. There were concerns about how much offensive freedom he would have in SF, with their west coast system and scripted plays.

It doesn't seem like the the 49ers tried that hard to sign manning either. The Bay Area media speculated that it was manning who called the 49ers, who at the time had a 3 year $24 million offer for Alex Smith that had been on table for several weeks. Rumor has it that offer was left on that table for Alex to sign during the entire time the 49ers were in the running for Manning.

Did you edit this? No big deal; I was just working on a reply and came back to a much longer response, I think...

If you have faith in Willis MaGahee duplicating a 1200-yard season, that makes one of us.

It has potential. But the results last year were not good. At all.

So, it's a pretty good team - if they add All-Pros, etc? And uhm... no. Not unless they bring 2007 with them. All old and washed up - we saw it first-hand in Indy this year.

Come on, man - you don't believe me?

Meachem, too - and didn't they add Gaither while retaining Hardwick? That's a team that admittedly always underperforms - but until Manning proves healthy. Rivers is far and away the best QB in that division. (And one of the best in football, assuming last year was a fluke.)

I'll quote you, "Tim Tebow sucks." Not a tough act to follow. On the field.

He didn't chose the best team that gives him the best chance to win. Of his three finalistss, he picked the team that gives him the least chance to win, IMO. (Not opinion: SF gave him the best chance to win.) And the one that carries the fewest expectations. He ran from SF, ran from Tennessee - both much better destinations that made more sense (IMO, of course.)

The ultimate decision, which was absolutely money-driven, not the journey to it. They both picked easy, safe landing spots that reduced the glaring spotlights on them.

    Sigh........ I know, I know..........

You don't really think they will keep Tebow on that team? Do you know how much of a distraction that would be?

There is more pressure on him in Denver than it would have been if he went to San Fran.

How? SF would have been instant SB favorites. Can't say the same about the Broncos.

The Tim Tebow factor. Many folks think he is a joke of a QB and he helped them win at least one round in the playoffs.

So one of the best QB's of all-time replaces him. That alone makes this situation have more pressure than the San Fran situation.

    Keep Tebow

    1. You need a back-up, he would learn from Peyton.
    2. Dude could be a badass H-back
    3. Throw a little Wildcat in there
    4. Cheerleader and Public Relations (all the rah-rah Peyton probably doesn't want to do anymore)
    5. He sells

Why would Manning's ego be phased?

Outside of #1 why would Tebow want to do that?

Tim Tebow can't run remotely the Peyton Manning offense. You want a backup QB that doesn't involve changing the entire offense if Manning goes out. The last thing you want is Tim Tebow.

He's taking over for an undeniably terrible QB on a mediocre team. There's no pressure. If he's healthy, they'll be a better team. And even it fails, it was the right football move. No one would choose Tebow over Manning. Not even Jesus.

Which is why there is pressure. Which proves my point.

And my point was pressure on Manning so it being the right football move has nothing to do with what I said. I didn't say it was the wrong football move.

Exactly - no competitor is going to look at the schedule or whatever to find the easiest route to win or the weakest division or whatever else. He's going to look at the personnel & coaches and see if it creates a situation he'd be comfortable in. And then he's going to want to get paid.

C'mon its Peyton Manning. He's going to have alot of pressure wherever he goes, regardless if it is Denver, SF, or Hiawassee, Georgia. If there's a pro football team in town, and Peyton Manning is healthy and actively on the roster that team is going to be expected to do alot of things, regardless. Everything is Super Bowl or bust. That's going to be the issue with any great QB or superstar player, especially like basketball superstars.

Feel bad for Tebow, hope they make a decision on him quick, he needs a full offseason somewhere. And he needs a "system" that fits his game and that is not Miami. I think he might end up in Jacksonville.

Manning makes the Broncos a serious contender, IF he is fully healthy and STAYS healthy. He can not take a pounding and play for the whole season.
