Biggest paycheck? Wouldn't that have been with Bud "Job for Life" Adams? I think it's safe to assume that anywhere he went, he was gonna get paid.
Between most money, most likely to go to the Super Bowl and fit, Manning chose fit. He's been given the keys to the castle in Denver and apparently bonded with Elway and Fox. I doubt Jim Harbaugh was willing to cede total control of the 49ers offense and the Titans were nothing more than a tempting sideshow.
Reread what you posted and then ask yourself when Bud Adams has ever - EVER! - offered the biggest paycheck. He's as cheap as he is fat. "A job for life" means nothing if you're being offered minimum wage. Manning, as he's prone to do, tucked his tail and went soft. He's a fraud. Always has been. Kills me he backed into a Super Bowl victory. I had hoped he'd finish his entire sporting career without a championship.
He was the one who was talking the biggest game, that's for sure. I think he's a cheap b*stard too, but it's Peyton Manning, so if there's anybody who could pry open that old codger's checkbook, it's probably him.
