You really want to argue that Matt Schaub gives the Texans a better chance to win the Super Bowl than a healthy Peyton Manning? Good luck winning that argument.

The chances that a 36 year old player who has had *four* neck surgeries over the last 18 months *and* has had a degenerative loss of arm strength will actually be healthy enhances any argument someone would want to have about passing on Manning. In other words, good luck finding a healthy Peyton Manning right now.

You obviously missed my first post in this discussion. To summarize, call manning's agent. Set up a meeting and a throwing session. If he proves he has the arm strength to make the throws, sign him and trade Schaub. If he refuses the throwing session or fails it, don't sign him. To not kick the tires on signing him is foolish.

Also, his post seems to indicate he is "sick" because the majority of fans in this thread aren't being loyal to Matt Schaub. He surely didn't seem to be coming at it from the health angle.

you, and many others, talk as if we won't be rooting for matt schaub if he's our qb next season.

we just aren't blindly loyal to "our guys" like you are. and we have the ability to objectionably reason that, as solid/good as matt schaub is, he is nowhere in the same stratosphere as peyton manning, a once-in-a-lifetime free agent, who is a top 5 qb of all time, and seemingly attainable if we want him.

his age is irrelevant, and anybody who uses that as an argument is foolish. aside from that, how are people still assuming he's going to be unable to play once the season starts? are you delusional? are you just hanging on to any possible reason to justify why your beloved, indispensable matt schaub is a better option than peyton? with the recent news on his health, and video of him throwing, and him sounding rather positive about his outlook, why on earth would you be on that side of the betting at this point?

Trust me, I am not "blindly loyal" to "our guys". You obviously miss all of my posts about not wanting to resign Mario Williams.

I don't think Manning gives us a better shot at winning a championship at this point in his career. He really just doesn't fit the bill, and our front office knows that. But you probably just think they are being homers, right? Maybe, just MAYBE, they don't want to mess with a Top 3 offense to go after something speculative.

When Matt Schaub holds up the Lombardi next year...I want greenies!

his skills have NEVER declined, nor was his injury a result of aging.

favre, marino, montana, elway, young...they all played at a high level into their late 30's, as i'm sure a host of others did. age is irrelevant when discussing manning's next 2 or 3 years, which is the window we'd be using him for.

schaub is 31 next time he plays. for all you know, his age will catch up to him in his early thirties. age as a factor is a guessing game that holds no real concern until there is any evidence that a player's skills are declining.

What part of 4 neck surgeries in 18 months, missing an entire year and not being able to throw with any velocity don't you get? If he were 26 years old those are red flags. You calling anybody "delusional" for the Texans being cautious about this is pretty rich, though.

No quality team is going to sign Peyton to big money without knowing his health in detail. That being said, if he is indeed healthy, I would trade Schaub in a heartbeat for 2 future third rounders just to boot his salary for Peyton.

If Peyton is healthy, he's the kind of QB that could rattle off 3 SB wins in a row with a strong defense behind him and an offensive line that protects him.

quit putting words into my mouth. i never said they shouldn't be cautious. that's quite different from not even considering him though.

and please show me the evidence of him "not being able to throw with any velocity" and of him being unlikely to do so 6 months from now. thanks.

If peyton goes to some team and they go the playoffs and the texans finish 6-10 which is possible I hope rick smith and garry lose their job on the spot.

I never post here but christ y'all are a bunch of delusional nut hugging schaub fans. FO GIVE MANNING A CALL. Totally with cardpire for the last 28 pages on this one. Furthermore, if these teams are so "paranoid" that he's unhealthy why are they so desperate to even bother meeting with him? Actions speak louder than words.

    ...

It's not like teams are going to sign Peyton Manning without any sense of his health. You get the option to work out a player and see what they can do before you sign him.

Best post so far. 6-10 wouldn't be all that surprising.

Best thing that happened to Matt Schaub is him getting hurt. Had he played against the Ravens (or Bengals) and lost he would be in DC right now.

Agree 100%. Some Texans fans are truly delusional that Schaub is an Elite QB and will lead us to a SB.

Texans need to commit adultery and give manning a call. At least try to make it to first base. It feels like the texans are one of those timid guys who can't take a hint that a hot babe is throwing all kinds of signal at you.
