I agree, but if we are going to start throwing out hypoteticals
    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/houston-texans/matt-schaub/

Schaub would count $8.3MM against the cap next year, so you can take that off the books if you are able to flip him for picks. (Washington seems to make a lot of sense as previously suggested).

it's feasible for Manning to take more guaranteed bonus money so the Texans spread the pain out over time...but he is still going to have to take a dramatic pay cut from the $20+MM tag he has been working for in Indy.

Sign manning if he's willing to come here cheap. Trade schaub to open more cap space. That way we can still upgrade where we need to and have a quarterback legend showing tj yates the way of the jedi

Just not the culture of this team; can't see McNair doing it. He wants to win with the team he has assembled. He is very loyal to players and coaches. Won't dump Schaub in the grease.

    ^ I agree with this.

Also, MANNING will retire and play Brett Favre (no training camp, no two-a-days, etc.) and come back right before the season starts, with some cheap-ass team like Arizona or Washington.

So the doctors have "cleared" him? Hello, Tony Boselli (to anywhere he goes).

Agreed. As Adam Sheffler said this morning on Mike & Mike, this would constitute thinking out of the box which he didn't see the Texans doing. Nor do they need to do so. A lot of this speculation is being driven by ESPN. You'd have thought that Peyton had died when the reality is that anyone with a brain stem could have seen this happening from a mile away. It happened to Montana, it happened to Warren Moon, it happened to Johnny Unitas, it happened to Roger Craig and now it's happening to Peyton Manning.

Except the part where Manning just said he is not retiring. He's not Favre. He's not the diva, attention w****-ing, penis-texting schmuck Brett Favre is.

You can call the Redskins and their management many things...cheap isn't one of them. They've constantly overpaid since Snyder took over. You might be the only person in the world that would call the Redskins "cheap".

If Manning came to Houston, Irsay would crap a brick larger than the Astrodome.

But it's not going to happen.

No way Manning pulls a Favre, he works hard at everything he does to be the best. Manning doesn't give off the vibe that he's entitled. PM is great in part, because of his work ethic, film study and his will to be the greatest. Bad comparison regarding Favre.

If Manning misses any camp at all it will be precautionary due to health concerns, doubt that happens though.

I think there is no way Texans can sign him, but I believe they should at least make the call.

I would only be concerned if the Texans reached out to Manning and it didnt work out and word got out that they reach out to Manning, what would that do to the team chemistry and to Schaub's confidence if that were to happen

Odds are very low that Yates will even become an average NFL starter.

If you lack a quality QB, then yeah, it's worth bringing Peyton in. If you have a young QB that you expect big things from but want to sit and learn for a few years, it's worth bringing Peyton in. But if you already have a quality QB and no other QB on roster that you project as a solid future starter, there's no reason do do what you're suggesting.

QFT. This is it. Yes, yates is young and showed skill, but he's obviously not ready to take over. The big decision comes after this season with Schaub a FA

    But wait....

Peyton's got 100 million in the bank
    He loves competing
Maybe he would come here for the veteran's minimum.

Houston has Andre' Johnson and a new Dallas Clark in Daniels to throw to
Duane 'no sack' Brown to protect
And a great and versatile back
And who wouldn't want to throw all those bootleg plays

Don't know about the Zone Blocking System though.

Would the Texans abandon that and would Kubiak let Peyton call all the plays?

    mmmmmmmmmmmmm, probably not
