Lately I've noticed lots of guys doing this... We even have a "Nail Zone" for guys all the way over here in Dubai.... I find it a bit much.... But damn, some people have uglyass toenails and definitely need them... Keep in mind that people wear slippers way way way more often in the Middle East (part of the local clothing), so keep that in mind... Ofcourse, that doesn't apply to everywhere else... All things considered, should guys with horriffic nails get a manicure/pedicure?
The only acceptable time for a guy to get a manicure or pedicure is if it is being applied by a girl he is interested in and it helps him get into her pants (or into a relationship, whichever he is pursuing).
Never acceptable. I take pride in my chewed up fingernails and raggedy, nonexistant toe nails. It's a sign of hard work!
No way... it just sounds too metrosexual. Cut them and keep them clean, which you should be able to do on your own. We don't need them to look pretty.
it's kinda okay. i guess as long as you don't get that clear fingernail polish crap... then it's okay. i don't manicure/pedicures. i bite both finger and toenails, but i bite them to the point that they look somewhat manicured.
my mom is a facialist and she used to do nails. She worked in the highland village which is a pretty high end location. one of her regular customers was Antwan Smith. She said he even brought in a lineman on the team to get a manicure and pedicure. She said it was the funniest thing seeing someone this big getting a manicure. But it is not uncommon for guys to get manicures and pedicures these days...i mean she even gets a lot of high profile guys getting facials.
Some people can't keep them clean just by cutting them and stuff. I think it's ok. I mean, the shiny stuff is definitely a no-no, but just getting them clean, removing the cuticles, etc etc is fine I think.
I get a manicure at the Vietnamese hair shop in Sagemont for 5 dollars ( with 4 dollar hair cut). It's pretty sweet. The girl is pretty and she's stroking my hand with lotion for like 7 minutes. The mind wanders somewhat, As I watch her hands work the lotion up and down, up and down. Somehow, the coversation often turns toward sex and relationships. Her english is a little broken, but I don't mind trying to interpret as she slows down to mouth the words. My nails are trim when it's over! I need a ice pearl tea to cool down.
I know quite a few musicians who get their fingernails done often. When you play an instrument, you have a tendency to tear the **** out of your fingernails and getting a manicure can be extremely helpful. I've never done it because I have this compulsive thing about cutting them short and no manicure would last with me, but I don't find it odd or weird in the slightest. Go for it if you want to. Who the hell cares if it seems weird? This is, to me, like buying tampons or getting a facial or something similar for guys. IMO, it is far less masculine to be afraid of what it means or what people will say if you do it than it is to get it done. If you are really so tough and manly, none of that should bother you, right? Joe Namath shaved his legs, wore fur coats and panty hose and had ZERO trouble with women or men thinking he wasn't manly and that was in the early 70's.
