What's an air bubble? Seems fake.

As someone afraid of tight spaces and deep water, that's pretty much the most horrifying thing I've ever heard of.

Only 2 days? Sounds like a vacation to me.

    Sincerely,

This. Getting "stuck" somewhere has always been a strange fear of mine, going all the way back to childhood.

I think the only reason why he had an air bubble was that it was only 100 ft down. If it went deeper then the water pressure would surely have forced the water up into the bubble and pushed the air out.
    What an incredible story.

"Pushed the air out" of what? A enclosed steel pocket? I think you mean "compressed the air" not push it out. Water won't push air down and out. But it will compress it.

It's not an enclosed steel pocket. It's not like he was in a safe vault. The article states that the water was rising so that means there were ways for the water get in and thus ways for the air to get out. If there was enough water pressure it would have pushed up into the area occupied by the air and the air would have found a path of least resistance and escaped. Sure it would have been compressed to some extent at first but eventually the amount of compression that could happen would be less than the amount of pressure the water was exerting and it would go elsewhere.
