I can't really blame anyone for scattering when idiots are being idiots. Situations like that are how normal people end up getting hurt. That's not a black/white issue, it's a trashy/not trashy issue. A person of any color sitting down on that subway could easily have gotten hurt by one of those bodies flying around. Thankfully nobody escalated by pulling out a knife or a gun, but it definitely happens and getting caught in a crossfire between stupid people doesn't sound appealing to me.
