you have to tip your hat to the man for pulling this off. He got away with it. No arrest, time in jail, injuries, etc. Impressive.

If bicyclists can shut down the road for Critical Mass or marathoners can paralyze the city with their running activities, I don't see why this gentleman can't make a few office workers wait in traffic for an additional 5 minutes for a once in a lifetime event.

Most events are scheduled with the city with safety measures taking place to ensure that all parties are safe if they follow within the rules. Generally, I don't believe marathon runners will schedule the I10-I45 area to shut down ALL lanes of traffic. Moreso, if events are set, you won't have issues like ambulances getting stuck so this man could propose. Marathon runners and other scheduled events ensure that people will know where the bottlenecks are. This is a "I don't give a care about anyone else but my 5 minutes of glory" This type of thinking is not only inconciderate, but a slippery slope for copycats in the future for people with a few screws loose.

Bicycles are technically motor vehicles, and road closures due to marathons are planned in conjunction with city officials. Nice trolling, Brightside.

There is no difference! You are irritating the bell out of everyone who comes in contact with you! You,I, he/her, them don't have the right to break the law to satisfy a childish desire for attention! That's exactly what it is, attention whoring, why else would you stop traffic and get all of your friends to participate if not so that EVERYONE can see how great you are! TO ME, this is done by someone with low self esteem!

It's kind of the like the short-man, big truck scenario! Your over compensating!

So only the guy will be charged.

Told ABC: I'm feeling bad. Of course I just want to apologize to everyone if I caused any problems. That wasn't my intentions at the beginning. I just wanted to do something different.

Girl(as if she was about to break down and cry): He just proposed. It's not like he did it...I don't know, it's hard. ???Knowing the fact we're fined is scary??? We're really sorry.

Both were stunned to hear about the charge. They were shocked. He wanted to do something memorable. She loved that spot, where you can see the entire skyline. He also said he knows it was dangerous and a crazy idea but he's in love and it was worth it.

He's turning himself in right now to face that charge.

how are you shocked to find out that purposely stopping traffic on a major freeway during the middle of the day is actually against the law??? i'm not one of those "wish they would've been run over" folks but to hear them say they didn't know they could be fined or that he didn't even think of potentially causing an accident is flat out B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

there were literally 1,000 different ways that could've gone terribly wrong for them and not a single one entered his mind. wow.
