It's more than just that, it's also chance involved. When people survive "bear attacks, lion attacks, shark attacks" it generally isn't because they successfully fight off the attacking animal, its because said animal decides to stop attacking. Serious weapon advantage aside (i.e. - surviving a bear attack because you manage to shoot it with a gun), if a bear wants to kill you, generally he will. I certainly don't recall many stories of 63 year old man fighting and killing a bear attacking him with nothing but his hands and a manageable knife. A mountain goat is not a bear, so this incident is probably more survivable...but, seemingly, chance was not on this guy's side. He got hit in the wrong place or two, and that's that.
Whatever you say Rambo.... You really think a woman who just lost her husband (since he's 63 i'll assume they've been married awhile) really gives a **** that anyone thinks he's not an AARP-Bear Grylls? Pull your head out of your ass and have some compassion buddy.
Totally agree. As to why kill the goat...it might have had rabies, or whatever...in any case, it was aggressive. Plus, I think even if it gives the wife of the poor man who was killed a little bit of peace of mind because of "revenge"...worth it, in my opinion.
i dont know, that's pretty harsh...they're going to check if it was sick or just injured...i dont think she's going to feel good about it if it turns out the goat was just injured and trying to protect itself. Anyone know why they wouldnt just shoot it with tranquilizers first? I would think if it's just injured it would be viewed differently than if it was sick, but i guess not.
I just hope a mountain goat attacks you some day so we can find out just how well you would really handle yourself.
They talked about this story on the radio and said that the goat had a history of being aggressive. They had tried shooting it with bean bags to make it leave the area before (because that couldn't possibly make it more aggressive to people).
its called an eye for an eye. we should use this for human on human justice and not just for beast on man justice.
Haha this sounds like my roommate last year. We were watching one of those shows on Discovery, and he proclaimed that he could definitely take a wolf, one on one. Probably a grown bear too, if he had any sort of knife. No grasp on reality...
I say we kill this guy to send a message to all the other mountain goats out there. We won't be f***ed with.
