Nonsense. Hakeem has been in this situation in the past. Remember when Bill Cartwright broke his eye socket and while he was out the team jelled? When Hakeem came back, he wisely didn't try to jump back in as the #1 man, he let it come slowly and worked WITH the team. It was the same this year.

As for Malone thinking the Rockets dissed Hakeem by not making him the go-to guy, what has he been shooting up with? Am I the only one who saw Hakeem struggling to get 5 pts and 4 rebs? Who saw him play 13 minutes in LA and collapse on the floor gasping for air? If you can't breathe, you can't play hard, and if you can't play hard in the NBA, you're in the way.

I think Hakeem can (and should) be our starting center next year, but let's face it -- he is *not* going to lead the team in scoring. Maybe rebounding, maybe blocks... If so, we will not only make the playoffs, but win a series or two. Or three or four.

But we'll go nowhere if we try to make Hakeem the center of the offense again. I think he'll surprise some people with his scoring next year, maybe even drop 40 on someone during his Grand Tour Finale, but the Rockets would be nuts to go back to grind-it-out ball with this backcourt!

There is an ulterior motive in Malone's comment concerning Dream. It is self-serving. He just wants the Jazz organization to know how they SHOULD treat him. He's trying to be Dream's equal in terms of respect, which we all know will never happen.

    RiceAlum,

I have to disagree with you a bit on Shaq getting all the calls. I have to say he gets some calls but if you look at when he plays, he gets fouled just about everytime he gets the ball. There is no other way to guard him. Just like Dream when he was in the post. As a matter of fact, Kevin McHale was the same way and he got fouled alot because he was so good down low.

If Shaq runs into a player head on 5 times a game and doesn't get the call, it evens out anyways because I think he gets absolutely hacked when he gets the ball most times.

HeyPartner, you admire me job? Man, if you only knew that for every little party I go to, I have to suffer with a Jazz fan across my office who keeps reminding me that the Rockets suck and that the Jazz rule or that Dream is done and Malone is the same age and hes better and always was...not worth it buddy! ricealum,

Absoulutely. The core principal of all sports -- you give the ball to the guy who can do the most with it. When you play well, you start getting more time and more opportunities. Hakeem's been given chances, and he's struggled.

Also, teams ease players back from injury -- trying not to give them more than they can handle, and allowing them to get back in the groove. Hakeem's never really come back from injury this year. Considering the nature of his difficulties and his age, of course they aren't going to rush him.

    dcab,

You hit the nail on the head. He is preaching for the treatment for Hakeem that he wants. And you can't blame him. Veterans push for reliance on experience. Rookies ask the old guys to move aside for the future. Like everything, thier both right... and wrong.

    Now, now Heypartner...

Here I was thinking all along that you
actually could enjoy a debate with
someone who could challenge you without
    throwing verbal insanities.

Enjoy the absence while it lasted,
because Im back to throwing down with
    your wack views once more.

    HeyPartner...

I haven't forgotten. I just decided not to post about it. The reason is that the main conversation of the night(basketball related)was about the freakin Blazers. Most believe that they will be eliminated in round two and that Dunleavy is done as coach. Also, Pippen has told Dunleavy during practice that he needs to stops screaming plays and let them just play.

Oh, and McGrady is headed to Orlando. Hill and Duncan are believed to stay put either one year or multiple. No stories on the Rocks. I brought them up once and the "Olajuwon should of retired last year" chants started. I gave up after that.

All in all, it was pretty overrated. I thought it would be better.

The Blazer problem? Plenty of above-average players, but nobody who is considered an elite/dominant player.

    Alright Dreamshake!!

We just had another "Who's addicted to cc.net" and one of the jokes was we should admire you for your controlled abstinence. I figured it wouldn't last too long, and you'd be back on the wagon with the rest of us hopeless cases.

    cheers

I like anyone that enjoys Starlancer. I hope many, many people enjoy it.

As for Malone, I do not like or respect his on court game in any way.

    DaDakota

PS. I am a bit nervous about Starlancer, anytime you release something that you had a big hand in creating, you hope people like it, so if HeyPartner has seen it and liked it, then I am truly flattered.

    BUY STARLANCER !!!
