Actually Rice was traded to the Lakers for his outside shooting and he actually contributed pretty well for them. I think he put up double-digits in the playoffs. So if you look at Rice's ring as a bandwagon ring you have to look at Drexler's the same way. The Lakers traded for Rice for the same reason the Rockets traded for Drexler, they thought they were the missing pieces to a 2nd championship. Drexler contributed more, but they got to championship teams the same way. It just happened that Drexler was the 2nd option on the team and Rice the 3rd option on his team.
On the one hand, I admire his consistency... but then I also remember how consistently dirty he played... woo hoo! Down with dirty Karla... There are some absolutely hysterical quotes from this Jazz-hole BBS... people comparing the retirement to thinking about their own deaths... http://pub76.ezboard.com/bnotmesutahjazz
Yes, they were both contributors so its probably unfair to call them bandwagon rings. But the Lakers win with or without Karl Malone. So I feel if he went there JUST for the sole purpose of getting a ring, then it would have to be considered tainted.
Why does everyone think he's retiring? Bull****! He's not retiring. He wants the scoring record, and he's going to keep playing until he has it. As HOOP-T said, Malone has spewed all sorts of BS over the years about how he hates the Jazz, or he's going to retire, or he hates his teammates. It happens every year, but it doesn't mean anything. I (that is, one of the two people that is using this username) am a Jazz fan... Stockton is my favorite player. I know the Jazz very well, and trust me... Malone isn't retiring. Did you guys noticed that 60 percent of the people who visited that article voted that Karl Malone is not the best power forward?
