It's too bad he wasn't suspended. It would have been nice to see the Lakers finish off the Wolves without Malone.

I loathe Malone, but this was not suspendable offense IMO. However, let that fellow be 'undressed' to the world and let the refs open their eyes to calls appropriate to remove him from the game with 6 quick fouls.

I hate Karl Malone. As a Rockets fan, I have more respect for Stockton for retiring and not selling out to the Lakers.

They might win one in LA, but then they'll lose another at home. Short of major injuries, I think it's pretty clear who's going to win the title.

And to think, the Rockets were about five points short of having a 3-1 lead at one point. I feel pretty good about what was a massive disappointment at the time.

David Aldridge's comments on Malone (ESPN)

As much as some on this board dislike Aldridge, i think it's about time someone in the media (that is respectable) had enough balls to say something about Malone. Everyone just passes it off like nothing but it's really not.

If I had access to past NBA games with Malone in it, I bet you anything that he will throw his elbows out at least 5 times per game WITHOUT anyone near him. People call that a 'move'? Please give me a break.

And Aldridge is right...the NBA DOES know who they want in the Finals.

Not suspending Karla is totally crap. Stern wants the big four to win it all this year. Such a hypocrite.

WOW! I finally agree with Aldridge! Malone is such a dirty player, after a career of throwing elbows and connecting he should have been suspended. I also respect Stockten [insert puke] for hanging up the shorts when he should have. Malone riding shaqs back for a ring just makes me hate him that much more. I hate the Lakers, and with Malone there.....I can't even describe my distaste for that team.

    Anyways, malone got off easy.

What amazes me about Malone is that he initiates so much of the contact and yet the refs give him so many trips to the foul line. I have tremendous respect for Malone in terms of his dedication to keeping in shape during the off season; a lot of younger players *cough Shaq* could learn a thing or two from him about work ethic.

I'm a Laker fan and I've always hated Malone's playing style. Just because he is now wearing our uniform doesn't mean Laker fans should blindly love the guy.

ZRB, your logic amazes me. Unless, of course, you are a Lakers fan, then it's understandable.

This is why it is utmost important that the Lakers should lose. Malone latching on the Lakers for a ring is the biggest cheat of his life, above and beyond all the other horrendous cheats he's done. If he gets away with a ring like this, it will be the greatest injustice in the whole sports world.

No, I don't think you are seeing the big picture. If Malone stayed with Utah, 20 years from now NBA announcers will say this about him:

"Yeah, this kid reminds me of Malone. You know, Malone was one of the greatest power forwards of all time it is too bad he never won a title." Awwww... sympathy from all.

But, with a Laker championship, this is what they will say about him:

"Yeah, that Karl Malone was a great power forward but he never won a championship until he played with Shaq and Kobe *snicker snicker*"

I say let him win his "cheat championship" so that his disgrace will be remember for all time.

I'd rather they say, "Yeah, that Karl Malone was a great power forward but he never won a championship, NOT EVEN WHEN he played with Shaq and Kobe *snicker snicker*"

Point well taken. But I'm a Laker fan, so every game night I'm torned between my love of the Lakers and my hatred of Malone. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....

OK, in fairness to Malone, here's a nice article about in from the always unbiased LA Times:
