I think people are misinterpreting this topic. I don't think that by saying "Malone, a Rocket?" he was refering to Karl. Fatman510 was simply looking for confirmation that Moses Malone did indeed play for the Houston Rockets. And the answer is YES. He did. But speaking of Karl: Seriously, is he black or is he just white and really tan from spending a lot of time outside? I think Karl Malone is the 3rd best white player in the NBA behind Duncan & Dirk.
only problem is how long will he last? He's only a temporary fixture at best. I like what he'll bring to the the team, but I dont think its worth it for one year. On the other hand, this one year he plays w/ us could be good for everyone on our team. Mailman has a tremendous attitude to the game of which no Rocks possess. He's a great player and the Rocks could use him, just for how long? Plus, he'll prob be a better fit for a team like the Mavs or even the Lakers, who have money to spend......ooohh......scary thought....might be worth it to just keep him away from those 2 teams......what about the Spurs.....move Duncan to center and bring in Malone? intruiging........
Maybe the Mailman can teach Yao couple of go-to moves If this deal comes true, Malone's experience and presence should be a great positive impact on Yao's development.
Malone would be an excellent addition to any team. The man is a warrior with battle scars to prove it. Malone and Mourning have the most fearsome elbo's of all time. Not only does this guy posses incredible strength but he comes to play each night. If we had this guy...we could contend for the title. He posses what we lack (front court toughness, consistency, leadership). Malone is a proven winner. You can not argue that fact. He is still one of the top powerforwards in the league (Ranks #12 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking Per 48 Minutes(29.26). To often, GM's give long contracts to players with the so called unlimited untapped potential, most of the time, these players do not pan out. Malone is already a superstar. In any event, Malone would be a good addition. For the sake of debate, lets presume that Malone does not get along with the younger players. Would that not be a sign, a red flag, that perhaps we have the wrong kind of attitude in the locker room? Malone is a professional, a highly paid professional at that, but he knows when it is show time, although he did disappear in those finals against MJ. But any player would have, considering Jordan was the best player of all time. Our line up would do well if we had our M and M's (Malone and Ming) up front. If I can cast a vote, I want Malone on this team.
