I think he's headed down the trail of those 13-15 point nights unless he goes to a non playoff team.

    What about LA?

I think he'd be more interested in going to either of those two places than somewhere he just MIGHT make the team good enough to make the playoffs. 2 things missing from his career -- all time scoring leader & a championship ring. He's not gonna get both of those in a place like Houston. Honestly, I see him fitting in with LA better than Dallas. But if I had my wish, he'd just go somewhere in the Eastern Conference so we'd only hafta watch him flop maybe once or twice a season instead of 4.

Malone is going to Dallas, so stop thinking about that doofy looking man. Dough I don't mind him playing in a rockets uni, he would be a good player for us. But he's definetly not coming to Houston.

Malone wants 1) a chance at a championship and 2) breaking the scoring record. So whatever team he goes to it has to meet at least one if not both of those conditions. Dallas seems like a good fit. If Malone went there he could put the Mavs over the top and make them much more of a contender and at the same time he probably would score a fair amount with Nash's & Finley's scoring role reduced some. Plus Malone is from the Louisiana area so it is closer to home. I don't see Malone going to LA. Dallas or San Antonio seem like the best locations for him.

Malone can either A have the championship with the Lakers or B break the scoring record with a lottery team. But there's no way in hell that he gets both. Say he did go to the Mavs for example..... there's no way he gets 20 points per game with Nash, Van exel, Finley, Dirk and Lafrentz all being scorers. Especially since the Mavs are a run n gun type team.

Utah- can't see him being there anymore without Stockton. Mark Jackson or Arroyo running the pick and roll with Malone? I think not.

Lakers- It would be odd to see him in a Laker uniform or anyother for that matter but I do believe he would fit well there. It gives the Lakers the 10-15 ft jump shooter which incompetent Samaki Walker or 3pt happy Bobbert horry can not do.

    Dark Horse candidates

Blazers- They have so much talent and are going to make some huge moves so theres definitley a possiblity that a sign and trade can happen to get Malone.

Rockets- Likely? Not very.... but I would love to have him just because that means we would be going to the playoffs for sure.

If I could get through a year with Pippen, I guess I can get through a year with Malone. Besides, in practices, he can give whoever doesn't follow the scheme an elbow to the mouth so the guy knows he means business. :D

I don't think he'll ever break the scoring record without Stockton running the P&R with him.

Minnesota lost five 1st round picks (regained 1, yes?) for shenanigans with a contract -- which 'everyone' seems to do.

Why has Commissioner-for-Life Stern not come down HARD on the Lakes for PhilJax's overt tampering with Malone? I am all for censure INCLUDING losing their MCE for this season ('03-'04).

You guys must be joking?! Why in the world will Malone want to play for the Rockets, when he can get more money from LA/DA/SA, a better chance to win it all?

Why would the Rockets want to commit money for a 40 year old, when they got an untradable & expensive Talor, and a young Griffth?

    It's not going to happen!

Well the advantages of Malone as a Rocket is he'd get plenty of his shot oppurtunities here, which would give him the oppurtunity to go for the scoring title.

Secondly, we'd be immediate contenders if not this coming year, definitely the two years after where Yao/Francis should be close or already in their primes. If we sign Malone to a three year deal, he'd get just as good a shot with the Rockets getting a title as much as the Mavs/Lakers.

We'd fit both of Malone's criteria with good shot oppurtunities and championship contention in the near future.

Benefits of having him on our team. He has a good mid range jumper, is a banger inside the paint, and is a pretty good 1 on 1 defender. He deflects a lot of shots with his quick hands often. He has excellent passing skills, and if he and Yao were to start together, we'd have one of the best passing backcourts in the game that would rival that of Divac/Webber. They would encourage our guards to avoid the ISO offense, and to utilize our younger guys athleticism by slashing in the paint. Also this is an established veteran who could help provide leadership to this young Rockets organization, and Doc Rocket already mentioned that the Rockets are looking for loads of veterans.

Lastly having a legit PF for three years would benefit Eddie Griffin a ton. He could ride the pine, bulk up in those coming seasons, and should be at or near his prime while being given limited minutes to prove himself all the while we have a legit power forwards to work with. Once Malone's contract expires after a three year deal, EG would be near his prime, ready to takeover the starting PF position.

We'd have to find a way to deal MoT, but I think he could atleast be traded with decent value. I won't propose any foolish trades like MoT for KG or anything, but I bet there's a team that's interested in him.

All I want though is this team to improve, and if this is one of the acquisitions they're looking for to do that, then go for it.

i don't think that he'd want to go to dallas or la because it really wouldn't mean anything to him, he'd just be along for the ride

    Wouldn't Mourning be cheaper?

    As well as more palatable?

Plus Mourning would enable the Rockets to trade Cato for a big PG or a defensive SG or pick(s).

Or include Cato in a package and trade for a more upper echelon player.

    That's what I thought......LA....

He wants that scoring championship......Dallas won't be the place to go.

Or maybe.....they'll be scoring 120 points a game.

Sign and bench him for the year (injured list under mental dysfunction)... you'll appreciate that by the end of the upcoming season he'll not be closer to Abdul Jabbar's record.

    Revenge is sweeet.. against Malone.

Him as a Rocket is just horrible.........NEVER SHALL HE JOIN.

He doesn't even want to come here anyways.

We need his help. He doesn't need us.

I hated Barkley before he was a Rocket too. Malone is what the Rockets need.

But Dallas needs him more, and is probably a better option for him.

If Rox can get him for $5mil/year, yes that will be good. He can go 1 or 2 year and hopefully Yao will be more mature and Rox can make some trades to improve other positions.
