when martin gets in the playoffs (not a criticism) we can have this discussion. right now the team is built for him to get his shots off, not for him to get others involved. the team is fuctioning efficiently because of him and benefiting him because other are doing their job. when they get in the playoffs and need someone to score after the offense breaks down, we will find out players' values on this team.

    it's true.

he is getting more benefit from other players than they are. kyle is a typical example. kevin is super efficient when he is open and not the main target other teams focus on. someone on this team has to do the job to create for kevin. since we don't have a superstar, it becomes a combination of kyle, scola...

Do you mean just scoring? If so then you just look at TS%.

If you're talking about overall points produced per possession, then it's not a fool-proof stat but basketball-reference.com has the stat called ORTG for individuals.

DM brought kevin to the rox due to his specialty and yao's capability. DM saw the deficiency of yao and tmac combinatio at offensive end. he wanted someone can take advantage of other teams' defensive strategy. DM also realized rox needs a closer and kevin is not a player of that type. he put his hope on ab but it didn't turn out very good.

May I ask if you have read my OP post? If you have, please explain, and I'm not being sarcastic here, what playoffs have to do with this thread?

Google true shooting % and read exactly the premise of it. If you feel you lack the math skills to comprehend it, you can ask here to expand on its reasoning. If you do have the math skills to comprehend it, but feel it's not nearly as good a stat as the one you proposed a few posts ago, then explain your logic on why TS% is not a good stat.

    Thank you.

@CXbby, kind of sorry that you have to defend my point here. :)

Yeah, I didn't factor those. I just talked about extra possessions gained by the team. I guess I don't really care what happens to those possessions, just that they're used. I think points per posssession for each team is generally a bit higher than 1, factoring in all the stuff above. So assuming your offense isn't completely impotent, any shot not-taken by Martin should result in 1 extra point created by someone else.

Actually Martin is good 1 v 1. In his days in Sacramento, he was able to pretty much just do his iso and score 20-25 points a game. So if our offense does break down (unlikely seeing Adelman has successfully run it the last 20000 years he has coached), then we have Martin who can flat out ball.

    Bud > Batman.

Batman was a good defender but I'll take 20 points anyday over 7 points and 2 blocks.

It is not you I defend. It is humanity. And squids everywhere.

    Common sense police. Out.

There is a reason tmac + scrubs can win 50 games and a team with kmart + scrubs wins 40. by scrubs I mean role players.

With or without yao, the tmac rockets won close to 60% of their games.

Yes and the Lowry/Hayes Rockets have won over 65% of their games. Calm down, bandwagoner.

Yeah, you can't extrapolate that sort of data.

It's actually kind of ironic that Air Langhi used T-Mac as an example, considering T-Mac's BEST, MOST DOMINANT years which happened in Orlando, the team win totals were 42 and 21 wins. I believe even Martin's worst Sacramento teams didn't achieve as little as 21 wins.

on another thread, a quite few fans thought kevin is same or better than melo. 2nite game shows clearly it is not the case. kevin tried to do something out of his comfort zone in the 4th period. he forced the issues and majority turned out fruitless. he has to stay with his specialties. let other players create open shots for him.

I'd love to have Mutombo on this team. Could be fighting for homecourt right now instead of 8th.
