Oh yeah, you're right. Getting paid thousands of dollars to travel the world and stay in 4 star hotels while playing with some of the most accomplished studio musicians in the business would really be a horrible gig.... So would playing on national TV for the most watched show in the country twice a week. The horror!! I'd much rather play at Rudyards every weekend..
Are you happy with your life now? That's what matters. We all have a bag of coulda, woulda, shouldas lying around.
when i was in high school, i was set to go to UT. my family were all Longhorns. but i fell head over heels for a girl going to baylor. i had to be near here. she was going to be "the one." i went to baylor. i ended up meeting this girl who became my best friend. later she became my wife. we have 2 amazing children. i can't imagine my life without her. i haven't seen the high school girlfriend in about 10 years now.
This situation sounds a little like Before Sunrise. I never saw the sequel though. It's tough to 'drop everything,' unless it was Heidi Klum I don't know if I could have done it. I might have tried to readjust everything to stay maybe a few days longer to see how it panned out though. That would be a significant enough amount of trouble I assume.
If you're in a position where you won't hurt anyone else as a result of your actions (at least those that you have somewhat of a responsibility to, like kids or a significant other) -- then do it if you really want to. I have been struggling with a somewhat similar thought (just dropping everything) for a couple of years now. I haven't acted on my desire and it really bothers me on a regular basis...anyways, hope it works out for you one way or the other.
Wow Sishir!!! Must be some girl. I say if you even remotely considered it seriously...then GO FOR IT!!!!
I saw a picture of a girl in my girlfriend's wallet and decided I would marry the girl in the picture... so I dumped my girlfriend went to her friends house introduced myself and asked her to marry me. (been married 33 yrs now) Shortly after we were married I got sick and tired of the surfing in Texas called her up and told her to sell everything. We sold our van and our furniture and most of our household items in less than a week, we both quit our jobs and we moved to Hawaii. The surf was perfect in Hawaii. We lived there a grand total of 4 1/2 months, I surfed every day, but I failed to understand that without a job you cannot eat. So we came back to Texas. I do so much spur of the moment... I 'll just stop there...
Both scenerios look equally unfullfilling.. for me atleast.. musically.. But... C'est la vie.. Some aspire for more than others, I guess.
You should if you want to. I'm going to quit my job again soon, put my career on the back burner (probably never able to get it back to the same front burner) and go traveling again I think. F-k tomorrow.
If you replace "aspire for more" with "aspire to be a giant, flaming, pompous, judgemental, douchebag" it reads a lot better. Sishir...hard to tell anyone else what to do, but there's few things I personally dislike more than thinking "what could have been". Is there any way you can take a longer hiatus from work...say a month...and stay over there & just see what happens?
The Harvard jerk is on 24 this season! I'm waiting for Jack Bauer to ask him how he likes them apples.
I retired from Berklee in 02',ended up enrolling at St.MU in San Antonio all for a girl...It backfired on me aswell.
Heading to Hong Kong on Friday morning, very early, and then back to the States on Sunday. I'm not sure how to catch Rox games here either except maybe on TVKU. I remember SBC (now MediaCorp) used to show NBA games on weekends but they would be tape delay replays. I think Star Sports shows them now. I've got some free time on Thursday night though and would be up for grabbing a beer with a fellow Clutchfan. You can give me a call on my handphone at: 9159-5005 First off a gentleman never discusses such things on an internet board but I can confirm for a fact her last name isn't "Mangina" as another poster asked about. Also did get her contact info though but its not like I can call her next week and say, "hey lets go take a long lunch." Regarding Before Sunrise those type of situations aren't rare and if you travel around, especially back pack stuff like that happens.
Definately not a Ned Flanders lifestyle. All I can say is good genes. My mom looks about 20 years younger than her age.
