I did not shift the focus I responded to a post that talked about teachers.

And yes taking about Teachers is talking about affordability.

I see you just responded to me without actually knowing the topic and just wanted to get your talking points in.

Uh, dude, we can all go back a page and look at exactly what was posted.

This was my first and only post in here:

    Then you said:

I didn't say a word about teachers. You obviously shifted the focus to teachers..

I have an opinion on the subject.. I'm sure everyone does.. that's why this place exists... idk that those opinions are "talking points"

With regards to making it easier to build in the Bay area, I wonder if that will really be able to make a meaningful impact in the long term.

Naturally, building more housing would drive down the price of housing but the demand is so massive and the amount of wealthy people living there and with the creation of so many more wealthy in the coming years.. I have to wonder even if more housing was to be built could a teacher/policemen/firefighter/janitor afford it? Or would that housing just be swallowed instantaneously by the wealthy?

Teachers should be be a focus when talking about housing affordability and if you missed it the thread had already shifted the focus.

Your talking points are if you can't afford to live in the Bay area then move.

Ok, just so we're clear you responded to my post which said nothing about teachers... and then started talking about teachers.. shifting the focus..

Uh, yea, I would recommend anyone not move to/move away from an area they cannot afford to live in. o_O

    What is your solution exactly?

So many swing and misses in this thread. The culture of San Francisco has already changed from vibrant and free spirited to sterile and dominated by status/money. There are new complexes being built, areas like Emeryville and Oakland have become gentrified with price explosions, but they immediately have price points for tech workers earning in the mid 100's (who normally date other tech workers with a similar salary) who are the city's middle class. The public servants feel the wrath of this and no one cares because their kids go to private schools. The homeowners have every right to limit developments close to the city as it would completely ruin what makes it desireable. It boils down to corporate responsibility - are these huge revenue earners paying their fair share of taxes - and do they want taxes to go to public issues? They've priced out "fairness".

This is the only solution, period. A commute time of no more than 30 minutes (w/out traffic) to the compounds or areas , not 90 minutes each way.

The solution is more immigrants. More people. Less room.

Wait until Trump implements a policy of releasing "Catch and release" immigrants in 'Sanctuary cities', with San Francisco being at the tippy-tip top of that list. You think the problem is bad now.

DHS already rejected the silly notion of a Sanctuary City catch and release policy.
