So you think SC has a powerful D to pressure Vince? They're ranked 39th.

You predict 5 turnovers for VY... 3 by fumble .... you have to be an SC homer to predict that. Vince has only lost 2 fumbles all season, and has had only 2 picks total in the last four games.

Please cite me some examples of plays where these occurences have happened to Vince other than when he was a freshman and when he was early in his sophomore season. Especially those in "big games" or "pressure situations" (i.e. Michigan, Ohio State).

I preface this by saying I really have not studied either team much...but I see the game like this:

    USC's offense > UT's offense
    UT's d > USC's d
    UT's o - USC's d > USC's o - UT's d

As such I think UT can win. However, I think that if there is a blowout it will be in USC's favor. They have been there, have a great college coach, and UT has had meltdown issues in the past.

I really hope UT wins (just because I am from Texas) so I vote them by < 10.

Even though I went to a PAC-10 school I'm rooting for Texas to beat the crap of USC. My head tells me this game is up for grabs but my heart says Texas wins by more than ten.

I'm looking forward to the University of Spoiled Children finally getting their comeupance.

The only big game Texas played all year, Ohio State. Young threw 2 interceptions and fumbled twice. (Texas recovered both fumbles). I remember the fumbles and they weren't caused from big hits, they were caused from him trying to do to much and holding the ball with one hand.

I'll even cite my source for you:
    http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=citadel-2_479759_15&prov=citadel&type=story

And while Texas went to the air to compensate for their lack of a running game, Young threw two interceptions and fumbled twice, although neither was recovered. Both interceptions happened on Texas' side of the field, and Ohio State converted them into a pair of field goals.

Ohio State converted them into a pair of field goals.

thats key- even when Young tried to do too much and gave the ball up on Texas' side of the field the defense stepped up and held Ohio State to field goals- essentially keeping Texas in the game.

I have confidence in the D - they are not gaining the recognition that they deserve and I have a feeling with all the pub USC's offense is getting (such as ESPN's stupid 'history in the making series') they will come out motivated to stop USC's much-heralded offense.

So, in his last two big games (Michigan and Ohio State), Young has had 2 fumbles... neither lost. For a quarterback facing a good defense who runs a lot, that's a fantastic statistic to have. I remember one of those fumbles off hand... happened on a sack in the backfield. Young's total numbers in those games:

    7 touchdowns
    3 interceptions
    2 fumbles (neither lost)

Those are pretty damn good numbers, and you expect him to match the INT/fumble total from both games in one?!?! Can someone say homer? (Yes, I know you claim to be cheering for UT. However, your past history includes a reference to Texas as TU, so I'm a little skeptical on that.)

I graduated from UH, so i'm neither a big Texas fan nor a USC homer. I tend to pull for Texas teams, but when i'm making plays on the sportsbook then i'll pull for whomever can make me the most money.

Plus its fun to be against Texas on this board, since everyone here acts like they are UT grads. :) (T-shirt fans).

I can't wait to see how this game turns out. Being from Texas I'm obviously rooting for Texas, but I've seen both sides of the spectrum on here. What seems like extreme UT homerism, and people that just hate UT because they have an inferiority complex about the schools they went to I guess. It should be fun to see the reactions from both sides once the game is over.

Hey, isn't UH in a bowl this year?

    ;)

    Cool. Bet against UT.

But you're betting against a Vince Young of 2 seasons ago.

I doubt many on this thread realize that UT has won each game 51-14 on average either.

There are some people who absolutely hate UT and I don't know why.

t-shirt fan is a very aggie term. If you went to UH, I doubt you'll ever root for UT.

Besides, I don't think you have to attend a school to be a fan. UT doesn't have open enrollment like UH.

True, and as some other have mentioned, Austin has no professional teams (short of developmental pros).

I don't think Texas has a prayer...this USC offense and defense is an absolute freight train....I'd be shocked if Texas kept it within 10 points.

USC's defense is not a freight train, it's not even the best defense the Texas team has faced all year. That would be Ohio State in Columbus, where Vince had more total yards than the entire Buckeye offense.

Do you realize Texas had the highest scoring offense in the nation, and not built on playing defenses in the Pac 10(which for years has been known to be an offensive type conference)? So why isn't our offense a freight train? Oh that's right, we don't play in California. And apparently people can't do any research to learn the names of David Thomas, Billy Pittman, Limas Sweed, Jamaal Charles, Ramonce Taylor and Quan Cosby, aka the 10 dwarfs "helping" Vince. Thomas is one of the best receiving TE's in CFB, Pittman, Sweed and Cosby have good chemistry with Vince in the passing game, and Charles and Taylor are homerun hitters every time they touch the ball.

Also, our OL is one of the best in the country, and our defensive line is too. Not to mention we have if not the best secondary in the country, one of the best.

This USC team is not USC 04 people. What part of that do you not understand? In fact, thank you ESPN for your completely biased and irresponsible coverage the last two months, so that my Horns have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Furthermore you want to know why last years NC game was a blowout: better SC defense, coupled with the way OU gambles in the secondary(every team that beat them during their dominance beat them on deep passes) vs Matt Leinart. Not to mention an idiotic special teams play that turned the tide and OU essentially quit soon after.

The spread has no business being this lopsided, but it is what it is. And I respect USC big time, but I know we can play with them and WIN, even if the rest of the country sans a few brave souls is brainwashed by ESPN's coverage the last few months.
