I cant wait for draft day...hopefully someone falls....i want roy or morrison with the eight pick....a dream really
Brewer is the target. Let's hope he is there at #8. Let's hope Shelden goes to Atlanta and JJ "The Great White Nope" goes to Danny "I Need More Whities on my Team" Ainge. Brewer is the only choice. I do hope we try to make moves that net us other draft picks. I think Atlanta's could be in play, but that's my wishful thinking. We know about Seattle and the #10. Only 11 days away.
Honestly, I don't think Brewer has any all-star potential. Though I think Carney does. But I will still pick Brewer because he will know his role quickly/easily/efficiently.
Like that's possible. I'm pretty sure GM's have Swift figured out already. And Ugh... I hate Shelden.
his numbers weren't that bad. he's still a good player, just failed to live up to the high expectations of rockets fans and what rockets need. the guys i listed aren't totally out of reach they've all got expiring contracts/max re-signings to worry about, except for the smiths, though jr is rumoured to be a fire sale.
Do you think Brewer's low shot blocking percentage is due to the fact that he can not fully extend his right arm? You would think, with someone with his athletic ability and size that he gets more blocks. That is my only other concern besideds he shooting form. I bet if he did not have the arm injury he probably be a top five.
Then how do you explain it. Someone with his length, jumping ability(41" vertical) and being the second best athlete in the draft, you would think he get more than 0.5 block per game.
I havent seen a ton of footage of his game, but you think it might be because guards/swingmen arent normally known for their blocking? Most guards games dont make it easy for them to accumulate blocks...thats more a function of playing in the paint. that is one stat which concerns me not at all.
I am just being nit picky. I want his stocks to go down a little, in order for us to get him at #8. His rebounding could be better as well. Some people compare him to Josh Howard. Brewer has the better handle and court vision while Howard has the better rebounds and block shots. Howard probably played strictly as small forward in college. Howard averged 19 pts, 8 reb and 1.5 blks in his only season in college.

Obviously he doesn't give the rebounding and shotblocking that the others do, but his offensive numbers stack up pretty well.
Speaking of stacking up. Look at how Mike Gansey's production compares: <table border="1" cellspacing=5> <tr><td /><td>%min</td><td>ORtg (%poss)</td><td>eFG% (%shots)</td><td>OR%</td><td>DR%</td><td>FTRate</td><td>Ast%</td><td>TO%</td><td>%Blk</td><td>%Stl</td></tr> <tr><td>Gay</td><td>73.6</td><td>107.0 (24.4)</td><td>59.5 (26.4)</td><td>7.3</td><td>13.7</td><td>34.0</td><td>12.6</td><td>18.5</td><td>4.7</td><td>3.2</td></tr><tr><td>Roy</td><td>78.1</td><td>125.3 (27.5)</td><td>55.1 (27.6)</td><td>7.6</td><td>13.6</td><td>47.0</td><td>25.1</td><td>14.3</td><td>2.6</td><td>2.4</td></tr> <tr><td>Brewer</td><td>86.2</td><td>110.9 (26.3)</td><td>49.8 (28.2)</td><td>4.1</td><td>11.8</td><td>43.0</td><td>19.7</td><td>13.9</td><td>1.4</td><td>3.9</td></tr> <tr><td>Carney</td><td>68.0</td><td>117.7 (25.1)</td><td>53.7 (32.4)</td><td>5.9</td><td>10.6</td><td>37.8</td><td>9.7</td><td>11.6</td><td>2.5</td><td>2.9</td></tr><tr><td>Redick</td><td>92.5</td><td>120.2 (29.2)</td><td>57.8 (34.6)</td><td>0.7</td><td>5.0</td><td>39.8</td><td>15.8</td><td>12.9</td><td>0.1</td><td>2.3</td></tr><tr><td>Gansey</td><td>84.1</td><td>123.8 (22.1)</td><td>65.1 (23.5)</td><td>7.0</td><td>14.2</td><td>28.3</td><td>12.9</td><td>10.8</td><td>1.0</td><td>3.0</td></tr> </table> People are seriously sleeping on this kid. And pretty much every mock has him being avaliable at our 2nd round pick. Draft Brewer at #8 for his versatility, and Gansey at #32 for his shooting, and rebounding. That is the answer right there.
Im with you on that! Brewer and Gansey all the way! Gansey is a good shooter. Certainly not to JJ standards, but as long as TMac and Yao are healthy and he shoots 39% from behind the arc the Rox will do just fine. Maybe he can be like Sura and convert to run the point.
m_cable, you're becoming the voice of reason for me in these draft topics. Assuming the Rockets hold onto the 8 and 32, you and me both are pulling for the addition of Brewer and Gansey. Two guys that have shown a willingness and a desire to do the things that other players aren't willing to do. In my mind, that's a far better quality than being "able" to do things that other people can't. Of course, Ryan Bowen is the exception.
Well the major consenses on this board is Brewer. I would prefer Shelden Williams because for some reason I don't feel comfortable with Howard, Swift, Hayes at the PF position... I like Swift still, but would love if we could somehow have him as our future backup C. Then you draft Williams and have him off the bench for this season and let him start the next...
