We'd basically be conceding that we wouldnt get Howard if we entered into this deal. Though I really do like Brooks; think he could be something special

We were never getting Howard in the first place. Getting Brooks would be a great consolation prize, though.

Rockets sure are slow to jump on good deals. Still, i'm sure they have their reasons.

if it was such a good deal, why would orlando rather have the draft pick than brooks?

so far orlando, NJ, cleveland, and the rockets (as you assumed they passed on this chance) would rather have the first rounder than brooks.

only the clippers would rather have brooks. who is more likely to be making the "good deals"? my guess is the first 4 teams.

Brooks is a ball stopper... does not create for others.... does not defend...

    Not really interested...

    Lamb > Brooks upside

perhaps you misread the thread .. this is not a trade for howard so yes a lottery pick is too much for brooks. I dont get the big hype about him . his per 36 last year was 15.5 points and he shot in the low 30s from 3 .. we have a shooting guard now (martin) who in his OFF year averaged more than that and shot the ball better. Why would we want someone not as good as martin on offense but just as as bad on defense?

You do know that you are talking about a second year player. Those are pretty good averages for a rookie.
You do recall hearing his name mentioned for ROY, right? I do.

I'm absurd for wanting to get a good young scorer now as opposed to possibly seasons from now?

You are trading a guaranteed lottery pick!...that is foolish in my opinion...Morey is right about getting picks (especially with value...Toronto could imo be back in the lottery next year!)

The Rockets are rebuilding and aiming for a high lottery pick...

Getting Brooks will cost Lamb (a lottery pick) minutes and development..
Getting Brooks could mean 2-3 more wins, which would bump our own lottery pick down a bit.. not good.
Brooks is simply not worth a potential top 5 pick.......

Not entirely. But considering "good" is subjective - he scored pretty solid for a rookie, but not all that efficiently, considering we just drafted a guy who seems to be a clone of Brooks only with more upside, and considering the Toronto pick still has the potential to be something MUCH greater than Brooks (though also the potential to be much worse)...

well, then yes, it is a little absurd.
