I know some crazy Republicans, and while they all hate ACORN, I've never heard one say they stole the election either. Now, the "Obama is 'building' something that will destroy America and turn us into a European state" one is very common. I've had more than a few people tell me they hoped someone took him out.
It's almost like a cult. Still, there is a reaction that is driving this... a reaction to changes in society, economy, culture. That's understandable. What's reprehensible is that the power elite who run the Republican Party these days cynically take advantage of that uncertainty to further their own political ends. Would anyone really think this if not for the sustained media campaign of the last two elections? (To top it off, we had an absolute usurpation in the 2000 election when the Supreme Court of the United States made a decision that effectively prevented the resolution of that matter in the way proscribed by the Constitution, yet the same people being whipped into a frenzy about an imaginary Acorn threat cheered that abomination.)
Until someone explains to me the nearly 1 in 10 democrats who think ACORN stole the election I'm just not buying validity of these results.
Same here. If they believe this way, they aren't talking about it. They have other stupid things they like to talk about.
There are a lot of not-so-bright and/or conspiracy loving Democrats as well. And not all Democrats like Obama. Seriously, though, there's nothing here to question the validity of the results other than the apparently surprising nature of them. Can anyone see a real reason why they might not be valid?
bnb, I think this shows us that 1 in 10 democrats is working for ACORN and knows something we don't! As for what Obama is "building," I think it is MECHOBAMA! (man oh man, I can't believe that site had a problem with me stealing their lame japanese robot picture.)
Well that was a bizzaro poll. I'm glad I hang up on those things. Do you like Obama? -- yeah, sure. How 'bout his Health Care? -- maybe. maybe no. What about ACORN? -- Huh? Aren't they yesterday's news? Do you think they STOLE the election? -- WTF???? Where'd that come from? Yeah..sure, sparky. Whatever you say. Is this a joke? And who are you? -- I'm a panty wearing black woman from Baylor with a couple of teenaged kids. Only 62% of Americans think the election was legitimate? Really? Still not buying it.
What is so surprising about the poll. Think of all the crazy things a lot of Republicans have thought or still think. 1) Dubya was qualified to be president. 2) Giving large tax breaks to people making much more than them will help them prosper. 3) The real leaders of the GOP are good Christians who care about the well-being of humble church goers like them. 3) Palin was qualified to be a vice president and is qualified to be president. 4) Ronald Regan was a good Christian man. 5) Sadam Hussein is behind 9/11, even after Dubya said: "no". 6) Global warming is a hoax. etc.
Interesting stat: Over the course of four days in October 2008, here are the times ACORN was mentioned on the cable news networks: MSNBC: 67 CNN: 112 FOX: 706 http://www.dailykos.com/
Many folks think the conservos will go after AARP as they don't like them supporting Obama on health care. What is next? The American Medical Medical Association?
I don't know anyone who thinks ACORN stole the election. Even our favorite talk show hosts do not even believe that. It was either some really really bad sampling or thats not how the question was worded.
The wording of the question is shown in the links given earlier in the thread. You can check it yourself.
I'm sure you know plenty of people who believe Obama wasn't born in America or that Saddam was responsible for 9/11, since so many of your reality-averse party believe those things. And those things are at least as stupid.
