And yet Trump/GOP continues to resist things we could do in order to minimize and lessen its impact, putting lives in jeopardy.

It's not like Trump pays as attention to facts in any other situation.

    Ever.

    At all.

Why should he do something so unfamiliar here?

Cool. Start building nuclear plants and problem solved. I think Trump has already suggested more nuclear power.

He suggested more nuclear weapons, not more nuclear power. He has pushed for more coal power - maybe that's what you are thinking?

He is trying to force consumers to buy more coal and nuclear to keep old plants on a lifeline and compete with cheaper renewables and natural gas.

Problem with nuclear power is that the US is a market and cheaper energy wins out. Really what we should do is just kill coal and that would help the nuclear industry survive and perhaps thrive a bit. Or you make it so that natural gas isn't so cheap.

Every dire climate prediction made in the past has been wrong so far. Maybe this one will be right? Only time will tell.

Quite a bold statement, any actual receipts that would corroborate it?

I know he has pushed coal, but he has also pushed nuclear since his campaign run.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said that nuclear power needed to be approached with both expertise and great caution — but that it was a vital part of the energy mix.

“I’m in favor of nuclear energy, very strongly in favor of nuclear energy,” Trump said, adding: “If a plane goes down, people keep flying. If you get into an auto crash, people keep driving.”

That vid is from 2011 and he sounds pretty reasonable there.

NEICA had bi-partisan support prior to Trump - it isn't something he has "push" and the bill doesn't result in any new power, simply getting the US to catch-up to Europe from a research perspective.

The Trump admin has not initiated a single effort (or "push" as you have claimed) to build any new nuclear power capacity.

Damn just stop being so disagreeable. My point is just that he has expressed open support for nuclear power and it’s expansion.

What are you talking about - you posted some articles from 2016 during the election about the industry being hopeful. He signed a research bill with bi-partisan support.

He may be positive towards the nuclear industry, but he hasn't really done much to end the moratorium on building new plants. Frankly it hasn't been much of his talking points at all - he's so focused on "clean coal" and fighting against the climate change.

evidence, the reports are in the link. It wouldn't really be hard to disprove such a claim, especially when they provide one with the relevant information the statement is about, well it would be, if the claims were wrong.

Os, you should click on this link and read the article co-published by the Weather Channel and written by Nicholas Kusnetz. It's about what is happening now and what the future holds for Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, the largest naval base in the world, home to a very large portion of our navy, and the location of one of only two dry docks that can hold one of our fleet of aircraft carriers and allow them to have their reactors refueled and other things that make them go, an extremely expensive and difficult process that can take years to do. Without the ability to do it, these gigantic capital ships become gigantic paperweights.

The area around Naval Station Norfolk is sinking and the sea is rising. This isn't made up, this isn't "someone's opinion," it's a fact that our military and it's leaders are very aware of and very worried about, that climate change is causing the sea level there to rise, and because of the offshore Gulf Stream, it's thought that the sea rising is compounded by it's impact. Add the subsidence that's likely not too different than what has been happening in the Houston area, and you have a very bad combination. Climate change is not a joke and while our military leaders basically can't say too much about it in public, since trump would attack whoever did, a career ending incentive to stay publicly quiet, they are aware and worried. Norfolk has tens of billions of dollars invested in it and is essentially irreplaceable without taking years and an unconscionable amount of money that we don't really have.

Check it out if you like. One can find several references to what is going on online if you find it interesting.
