Link or no link, you can't really prove anything until you get a test, so why is everyone making this out to be a big deal?

He's not doing it for publicity when the Feds are coming after him. He's doing it to stay out of jail.

Word on the morning radio shows is that the Feds went after Grimsley to get him to wear a wire. They wanted other MLB players to be recorded admitting that Barry Bonds used steriods.

I just don't get why they'd single out Grimsley? Why pick an MLB player with one of the worst track records around?

This HGH stuff is a huge problem.

And eventually the media is going to figure out that it's not just baseball's problem.

I don't think they picked Grimsley's name out of a hat.

because they knew he had a shipment of his stuff coming. and they got an anticipatory search warrant...when the stuff was delivered, they were staking out his house. the stuff was delivered...the feds hit the door and said, "turn over the box or we'll turn over your house looking for it." he obliged. they tried to get him to agree to wear a wire. he wouldn't, but he gave them the sworn statement.

it's not because of who he is as a baseball player. but that he is a baseball player who's played on numerous teams.

oh, yeah...and whether you're Jason Grimsley or Ed Grimley, this is still illegal stuff.

Yeah, it's simple. The Feds got incriminating information on Grimsley that can send him to jail, and then they used that leverage to get Grimsley to roll over on other/bigger players. Same way they brought down the mob.

Aha! Good answer. I guess I just never realized the feds were that concerned with these kinds of things. Good for them.

There is a test, but it is a blood test. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I think it is employed by the Olympic testers, so apparently accurate enough to take action on a positive result. I didn't think any sport would ever go to blood testing for banned substances, but if this Grimsley thing blows up as big as it potentially could, you may find all sports eventually going to Olympic testing standards.

there's no test for HGH yet, as i understand it. the idea would be to take blood and urine samples...and hold on to them until such a test is developed.

i agree. i think that's the direction it's heading. blood testing for every pro sport in the US. again, the focus is sooo squarely on baseball right now...but i assure you, this is a problem for every sport.

I heard Charlie Pallilo say yesterday that there was in fact a test right now, just not as accurate as they would probably like.
