??? You misunderstood what I brought up obviously. I said gays not being able to procreate raises dilemmas of human nature. Gays cannot procreate and therefor their bloodline cannot be passed on down to another generation without some sort of scientific process involving technology. In essence, nature would wipe away any history of them. just kind of makes me wonder about what kind of ethical questions we'd face in a world of babies from same-sex marriages brought about by human interference instead of God. CRAZINESS!
I'd like to see one of our BBS Christians give their take on this. Would you be ok with the US government not recognizing marriages as you know them, and instituting its own separate designation for unions between consenting adults?
If marriage is a religious practice taken over by the Government then they themselves have failed to separate church and state and then need to give it back right now before God counts to 3 and turns this car around.
What the f*** does the bible have to do with anything? This is an equal protection case under the Constitution. Just like The Civil Rights issue in the 60's, the end game is so blatantly obvious; it's is just a matter of time until the dominoes fall. You goofy bible quoters are just wasting your breath resisting the tide of equality, the people on the other side are motivated by the fact that they are right. They won't accept discrimination, they will fight you forever. Just set up a system of civil contracts, extend all rights and benefits to the civil entity and I don't care if you marry your pet rock. Keep you religious unions in your church and let's move on.
I wouldn't waste my time bringing the Bible into anything. The Bible has been twisted by men to say whatever they want it to say. Give "marriage" back to the religions and let the government hand out equal unions for all.
Human interference? You mean using the minds and resources we were endowed with to help carry on the species? Or wait, does god forbid artificial insemination too? I mean... the technology was a few thousand years off for it to be a hot topic in da bible...
Agree completely. Future generations will eventually look back on the gay rights struggle in awe, amazed that people could be denied simple rights based on who they are.
Yes, it should. Especially since it wasn't in there to begin with anyway. And it should be taken off the dollar, too.
Or treatments for cancer or any sort of illness? We're kinda interferin' in God's grand will to let us die when we get a life-threatening illness, eh?
I can see it taken out of money, since people are so greedy over it. Leave it in the pledge. Even yalls boy Obama is a christian. just saying.
Donny, please understand what I'm saying here. I'm not damning the ethics of homosexuality as much as I'm pondering them out loud for my own benefit. The more we "play God" with our technology the more muddled the line between morality and depravity becomes. In vittro, insemination, cloning, etc.
The anti-gay crowd love to frame the debate in the context of the bible, as if the bible has anything to do with rational, or even constitutional law. It severely hampers their effectiveness when entering these debates in an impartial court, so I don't blame them. If the Rockets could play all their games at Toyota Center, I'm sure they would too
The bible says obey the laws of your land. so it kinda does have to do with the Constitution actually.
Know too that I am also thinking out loud about your thoughts. I see some holes that I would like resolved, etc. It becomes a really high minded mental masturbation exercise to sit around and ponder free will... but the question is raised when you invoke phrases like "play God", and talk about drawing moral lines, etc.
What if my artificially inseminated son ends up cloning himself so he can be gay and straight? I'm just going to need some time to adjust to this brave new world.
