Would any of you trade all 3 first round picks in the deal?

Hell, no. We'd slam the door in his face, just like we did to Antoine Carr and Shandon Anderson.

Malone wont fit in with Francis and Cat since he demands the ball so much. The Rockets are also a fast pace team and Malone i s a person who just sits in the post all day. Malone with the rockets is a bad thing.

    Go for Webber [IMG]

I would rather poke my EYES out than watch Karl play in Rocket pinstripes. But if we got him maybe instead of waiting for Cato to get some HEART may be Karl would kick Cato big fat butt till he started earning his salary.

No he killed the Rockets for a few years, the Rockets, in turn, killed his chances at a world championship by sending him home early. I guess he is a class act if you consider the fact that he rendered David Robinson unconscious, broke Donyell Marshall rib (when he was on Golden State), busted Isiah Thomas wide open because he was killing Stockton, and some of the other good stuff Malone has done. The day Karl Malone becomes a Rocket is the day David Aldridge gives us some accurate news. That would be the day after Hakeem Olajuwon gets credit for being one of the greatest centers ever and the Rockets 2 championships are recognized.

I know it's not popular but I would love to have him on the Rockets, but I hate him as an opponent.
If we did run more PNR who is better than him?
I know it wouldn't happen anyways but Karl is a good player and hard worker. But since it isn't going to happen...
I hate Malone and never want to see him on the Rockets [IMG]

Well, Stockton is done. Utah won't pay a luxury tax, so Malone is pretty much a free man should he want to leave. I would be willing to trade for him if Webber doesn't sign. He would be a nice addition depending on his salary impact. Even if he's renting space he's not going to kill us unless the designs on Carter begin to blossom.

Wait. I thought Malone was the Devil.

As much as I have hated him over the years, he is exactly what we need in a power forward, if we can't get Webber. And he is an enforcer.

Dream actually likes and respects him. If Malone came here, Dream would be staying for sure.

Dream-Malone-Horry-Cat-Steve...could do some playoff damage, supplemented by Moochie, Bull, et al.

As much as I hate that f***er in a Jazz uni, he is a good player. It pains me to say it but I would take him if we cant get Webber -if for nothing more than he would force the lazy ass Cato to work hard like he did with Marshall in Utah. And provide some much needed rebounds and inside presence. Plus it turns the Jazz into absolute loosers without him.

If we can't get Webber now, Get Karl!!! Why not? He would instill some hard work on our team. And the best part, we'll be in the same situation we are in now, (having ample cap space for signing a superstar) in a couple of years too! Ohhhhh the fun!

If Karl couldn't do anything with Ostertag what hope do we have of him motivating Cato???

Malone had some not so kind words for the Rockets in the way they tried to push Hakeem out the door earlier in the season. I'm not so sure Malone won't keep this in the back of his mind.

Karl Malone is the scum of the league and the scum of the earth. No way could I handle him bringing his flopping influence onto this great Rockets team. I'd rather trade the entire Rockets' roster for the entire Bulls' roster than add Karl Malone to this team.

Now lets never speak of this blasphemy again.

There is a HUGE difference between Charles and Malone in terms of the attitude when they were Rockets enemies. Barkley didn't intentionally go out and try to injure people like Karl Malone did. Charles didn't disrespect the Rockets championship teams after he lost to them like Malone did. I can't stand watching Malone go after people he think won't fight him back. And we got Charles to improve an already championship-caliber team. Why would Malone want to come to a team that is lower level in the playoff tier for 1 or 2 years? I don't think he fits in, and I definitely don't want him as a Rocket.

As I pointed out in the Doc Rocket thread, Malone could be the femaile poster that was alluded to. I still do not want him on the Rockets. I would like to see him retire on the Jazz with no rings to show for his efforts.

Like Hardwood said, if you take your personal feelings out of the equation, then you'll realize that it would be a perfect move. If we could somehow get the Jazz to take both Cato & Walt/whatever for Malone & resign Dream for 2 years, we'd have a real good chance of winning a championship. That would also help the growth of Steve & Cat in dealing with the pressures of the playoffs. I'd hesitate giving up all 3 picks, but would consider giving the #13 & #18 picks + future picks. The beauty of making this deal would be that both Dream & Malone's contracts would be expiring (giving us some major cap space) right when most of these guys become FA's:

    Team Player
    Boston Anderson, Kenny
    Boston Brown, Randy
    Boston Pierce, Paul
    Charlotte Brown, PJ
    Charlotte Campbell, Elden
    Charlotte Coleman, Derrick
    Chicago Miller, Brad
    Chicago Ruffin, Michael
    Chicago Voskuhl, Jake
    Cleveland Harpring, Matt
    Cleveland Traylor, Robert
    Dallas Finley, Michael
    Dallas Howard, Juwan
    Dallas Nowitzki, Dirk
    Denver Bowen, Ryan
    Denver LaFrentz, Raef
    Denver McCloud, George
    Detroit Buechler, Jud
    Detroit Moore, Mikki
    Golden State Hughes, Larry
    Golden State Jamison, Antawn
    Golden State Mills, Chris
    Indiana Harrington, Al
    Indiana Miller, Reggie
    Indiana O'Neal, Jermaine
    L.A. Clippers Olowokandi, Michael
    L.A. Clippers Rooks, Sean
    L.A. Clippers Skinner, Brian
    L.A. Clippers Strong, Derek
    Miami Davis, Ricky
    Miami Mourning, Alonzo
    Milwaukee Cassell, Sam
    Milwaukee Johnson, Ervin
    Minnesota Billups, Chauncey
    Minnesota Nesterovic, Radoslav
    Minnesota Peeler, Anthony
    New Jersey Harris, Lucious
    New Jersey McIlvaine, Jim
    New York Houston, Allan
    Orlando Armstrong, Darrell
    Orlando Doleac, Michael
    Orlando Garrity, Pat
    Philadelphia Hill, Tyrone
    Philadelphia McLeod, Roshown
    Phoenix Robinson, Clifford
    Portland Anthony, Greg
    Portland Davis, Dale
    Portland Pippen, Scottie
    Portland Smith, Steve
    Portland Wells, Bonzi
    Sacramento Anderson, Nick
    Sacramento Barry, Jon
    Sacramento Williams, Jason
    San Antonio Daniels, Antonio
    San Antonio Kerr, Steve
    Seattle Lewis, Rashard
    Seattle Payton, Gary
    Toronto Carter, Vince
    Toronto Clark, Keon
    Toronto Davis, Antonio
    Toronto Murray, Tracy
    Utah Malone, Karl
    Utah Marshall, Donyell
    Vancouver Bibby, Mike
    Vancouver Dickerson, Michael
    Vancouver Massenburg, Tony
    Vancouver Price, Brent
    Vancouver Strickland, Erick
    Washington Richmond, Mitch
    Washington Vaught, Loy

And these guys have player options:

    Team Player Amount
    Atlanta Henderson, Alan $5,909,375
    Atlanta Ratliff, Theo $7,812,500
    Chicago Mercer, Ron $5,515,152
    Cleveland Coles, Bimbo $2,250,000
    Denver McDyess, Antonio $10,800,000
    Philadelphia Snow, Eric $3,375,000
    Phoenix Gugliotta, Tom $9,336,000
    Phoenix Kidd, Jason $7,630,000
    San Antonio Duncan, Tim $9,658,000

I'd think we could definitely retool our team with some of those players.

I'm pretty sure there were a lot of Rockets fans who hated Charles before his trade to us became a possibility. And he certainly disrespected the Rockets (anyone remember when he put his famous quote on the chalk board that the series was over). However, when he was the answer to our problems (ie Seattle) he was welcomed with open arms. Just like Quitten was welcomed (even though he was hated) because he would (we thought) improve the Rockets. All you guys know our problems with the low post and Malone fits the bill. AND he doesn't have a long term deal as others have mentioned, so we'd be cap friendly again soon. AND there is no way you guys can say there is PF quality like that available other than Weber.
