Im still not worried about Trump. The State of NY and the Manhattan DA are taking their time with their investigations. I expect in 2022, Trump will have criminal cases to worry about.
He’s 100% exactly right. The only hope is that the Dems can carry a large enough win that it won’t be within a few thousand or even tens of thousands of votes. If it’s as close as 2020 then there is going to be violence.
You might actually be right and Texas' Dem best chance might be running Matthew McConaughey. It's again more sad that we've gotten this point where guys who play pretend heroes might actually be the best hope to preserve democracy.
I was told the eminent collapse of the Republic and our democratic institutions was coming pretty much every day of the Trump administration. Turns out, for all his bluster, he abided by the results of the election and just left. Like I thought he would. Spare me the end of the Republic schtick. Y’all are so dramatic.
That's not at all what Trump did. He didn't abide by the results of the election. He abused his office in an atrempt to pressure his vice president to not certify the election, has continued to lie about the results, scammed his supporters out of money based on the lie, and encouraged them to disrupt the certification of the election. The fact that Trump was unsuccessful in his attempt doesn't mean that he abided by the legitimate results of the election. That isn't what happened at all. And I apologize if your post was made in jest, and I missed the sarcasm.

no he didn’t leave peacefully - he just got stopped by the checks and balances that are currently being eroded by the sycophants in the GOP.
That's like saying a tenant I evicted did eventually leave after he was ordered to do so but damaged the home to such an extent that it will never be the same. He didn't just concede and leave...he burned every single thing he touched on the way out. If you can't see that well that's why we're in this predicament in the first place.
Not sure what else he could do. Once GA and other States refused to 'find a few thousands' votes for him, Pence didn't abide by his wish to not certify, the Jan 6th mob didn't succeed in stopping the certification as he told them to take back the country and do so without weakness and time ticked away, he didn't have a choice but to leave. And so he left while claiming that it was stolen to this day.
