Or it could be the best thing to ever happen to the Clippers. Having someone who has been a player, coach, & owner of the Lakers switch side could be a sign of the Clippers becoming a great franchise in their own right.
Will the NBA allow it this time? The Seattle Ownership Group will certainly show interest if the team becomes available. If the $1B number is true (the Magic Group's potential offer), I don't see any other ownership group matching that.
Good morning, Mr. Sterling. Why exactly can a guy who played in the NBA not be a successful businessman?
I agree that moving them to Seattle would be outstanding. We don't need two teams in LA. We need the Supersonics. CP3 and Blake = Payton and Kemp. Man that would be beautiful to see.
How epic would it be if Magic orchestrated this whole thing? That's good businessman-ship right dere.
You don't need cash saved up to buy a team - you need partners and a bank. Magic is part of the group that bought the Dodgers for $2 billion.
Me too. I secretly loved the Sonics in the 90s. Went to several games in the summit just to watch Kemp and Payton.
It would be the climax to the long con that started with the alleged HIV infection. relax. I'm just kidding....maybe
Jeeeeeeeeeeeez, those of you who are dumping on Magic in this thread are just (say this in high-pitched Mike Tyson voice) "ludicrous". Magic fronts the group that has the money to buy the Clippers. He would probably have to sell any stake he has in the Lakers (if he does). It would be awesome to watch the NBA feed Donald Sterling the ***t sandwich he deserves. Hell, the guy would walk away with a billion bucks. He can't keep the team now, so he might as well find a deal and get out. Anyone hear the entirety of the tape between Sterling and his girlfriend? You know one of those movies that's so bad it's good? They played it on 790 this morning. Horrific and hilariously stupid at the same time. Amazing how Neanderthalic people can be. Anyone hear today of the Brazilian playing for Barcelona soccer? A great percentage of Brazilians inevitably have African ancestry, and their soccer players abroad deal with a lot of racism (Argentina, Spain, Russia, and Italy are pretty bad). Some dummy threw a banana out onto the field to slur the player in question (Dani Alves). Alves picked up the banana and ate a bite, later saying on Twitter, "My father always told me to eat bananas to avoid cramps." Probably the best way to deal with these people.
