Does anyone still play this game? Is it still popular? I have a ton of the original cards in storage, and wondering if anyone is still around playing it? Are there stores that allow people to get together and game? I know, I know....I am a dork ! DD
I think Books-a-Million used to hold tournaments. Maybe they still do? People still play, I just don't who.
The reason I ask is that I am thinking of opening up a games store in Austin, where people can play head to head video games, and hold birthday parties, and events etc. Buy and sell used console games, and play with up to 16 people in linked matches.....in a totally tricked out environment..... HD TVs everywhere...and seperate gaming rooms with projection units facing both walls for both table top gaming and console games in a surround sound environment...think....Media room with screens on both ends.... And was wondering if the game magic was worth including in inventory. DD
I played once, but that's because a friend forced me to. This was after the most recent hurricane so not much to do with the power out lol. Great idea though, good luck on that.
The guys a year ahead of us were huge into it. My class never was. Then the younger classes got hooked on Pokemon/Yugi-Oh/Digimon.
I occasionally play the arcade game on the Xbox 360. Just started playing a few months ago. It's pretty fun and entertaining for my first card game.
Yeah, my middle school years were... uhh... 1993-1996? Yeah, that's when I was into it. It was before Pokemon/Yugi-Oh.
Magic?.....ILLUSIONS michael! you expect me to seriously answer this 1,000$ thread in my <a href="http://photobucket.com/images/gob%20bluth" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f240/disconnectme/3000suit.jpg" border="0" alt="I LOVE GOB BLUTH. I used to play in junior high and played in a couple of tournaments a week. It was quite an expensive habit, but I guess at that age, my parents were willing to spend the money to keep me away from drugs and alcohol. I owned a few decks that ranged anywhere from $600 - $900 (pretty ridiculous). I still have all of my old cards and decks.
Middle school thing like many others here. Graduated to non-expensive dorky stuff in high school, like chess. Then comes along the internet and pretty much destroyed all this stuff.
I was too busy discovering internets pr0n in middle school to notice magic cards. There were lots of kids playing them though. Lots.
Magic was more the more money you had the better you were. Now Pokemon, that game involved strategy. You could assemble a deck where you spent less than $20 and it could smoke all other decks.
I think the closest thing we would have to that would be Dragon's Lair on Burnett just north of 2222. I've been in there when folks are playing games...but the one primarily I see has to do with armored figurines and landscapes. Sounds like your concept is different, but wouldn't hurt to scope out the 'competitions'.
This is a good place to play, DD. My son used to play there a lot. Pat's Games 2308 Hancock Drive Austin, Texas 78756 Phone - 512 451 2223 email: austincards@yahoo.com http://www.patsgames.com/
