I can assure everyone of one thing...

When Howard plays at the Toyota Center next season, I will boo the F out of him. Ive only booed Finnegan and Malone/Stockton at games...

    Howard joins the list...little pansy.

Improve the Lakers because we'd be improving ourselves.

Well I'm talking about next year, as in the 2012-13 season. I'm not talking about 4 years from now because anything can happen in that period.

Even if neither team doesn't get Howard the Lakers are likely to be better than us. Star players RUN to that franchise so fast they often trip over themselves to get there.

I understand we shouldn't help to create a superteam, but we certainly should if it means nabbing the 2nd best center in the NBA.

My philosophy is to admit mistakes as soon as possible. Mistakes are forgiven, defending them is not. ;)

You are one of the most reasonable posters on this forum, thank you! This whole "let's not make a deal for Bynum because it helps the Lakers" is insane, and if you don't think Morey would happily do a 3 way trade, you're crazy. He happily did a trade that got Houston Pau and in doing so gave the Lakers CHRIS PAUL. You can't make decisions with the basis being "yeah this would help our team a lot but it helps another team so screw it." Even if it's a team you hate.

Is it really worth improving our team if in turn we are making our ultimate goal a lot harder than before? Dwight in LA is not good business for us. He will draw stars to him that Bynum cannot. Players who are fed up with their current teams like Kevin Love are much more likely to team up with Dwight than Andrew Bynum. Hell, there's a good chance that is our strategy for next summer should we get Dwight.

Funny because most of what I've heard is that the Rockets are open to Bynum.

But since you've said so then I'll take your word for it insider.

You missed Jay's point. Dwight or not the Lakers will always attract superstars.

More blind hate towards the 2nd best center in the league who is just coming off a entire season of being healthy, a season that was rushed (thus more risk of injuries with lack of rest). If you don't think Morey would absolutely love to add a guy like Bynum, you're crazy.

Can you really prove this? When was the last time the Lakers drew a star there without already having a superstar on the roster? A post Kobe era Lakers team is not a surefire superstar hot spot, regardless of what you Laker fans think. It's this reason that Mitch is pushing so hard for Howard. He knows that he is the key to the future, not Bynum.

I do respect Bynum, but the price for him is too high. Lamb + Pat2, 2 X 1st round, and 4 2round picks + 6m cap room over 3 years...

Shaquille O'neal and Kobe both went to the Lakers without much being there. Kobe was no star

The reason he's pushing for Howard is because Howard is the best center in the league.

C'mon bro no need for personal insults. I'm not a Laker fan.

Meant to say Kobe was no star at the time but he certainly wanted to play there.

Also Kevin Love is from California, I bet that is his first destination if they would like to have him.

I think the Mejia article points out something many people are missing - all of Dwight's complaining about not wanting to end up in Houston is allowing Houston to get him on a discount. It's almost as if this is all a trick to get himself to Houston with as many pieces still left as possible. So you see, Dwight really does want to win a championship with us after all.
