    First off, the thought of me "going to town" on anyone makes me (and likely everyone else) very uncomfortable. :p

    Second, unfortunately, teams cannot take advantage of CAP ROOM with the 150% salary matching rules. That is only allowed as a function of OUTGOING SALARY.

    THIS is why the Rockets will be very reluctant to just "dump" Kevin Martin (and his $12.44M expiring contract). He potentially has more value to the team in trades than $12.44M in extra cap room would have, since the Rockets can use Martin's contract to take back $17-18M in incoming salary.

    Add to that the fact that he's, you know, still a GOOD PLAYER, and it seems doubtful that the Rockets will move him for anything other than a star player or another very good first round pick.

    Careful, Bima. I think that two thirds of the BBS have already subconsciously traded Martin. The idea that he could be an integral part of the team this year might cause a collective nervous breakdown, even if just until the deadline.

    I've been pretty adament from the start that Martin is still in fact, a very good player. It's humorous how many clutchfans have such a short term memory on Martin.

    The dude is one of the NBA's most efficient scoters.

    Yes. He used to be vey efficient about jumping into his defender and getting cheap foul-shots. Then the rules changed.

    And the posturing continues! All part of trying to increase his trade value. If I'm Morey I'm not buying any of this. Set your price, take it or leave it. Personally, I am ok with rolling out our rookies and seeing where they take us.

    Bima, I am totally good with you correcting me. In fact I would be disappointed if you did not!:grin:

    I am a big advocate of holding onto Martin until the trade deadline. That is when he will be worth the most. Usually there is a contender (or pretender) out there willing to pay a premium for talent at the trade deadline. Or someone wanting to dump salary in exchange for draft picks.

    Just heard Morey is supposed to be on 790 in just a little bit. Unfortunately, they didn't give a time. Just said this morning. Sounded like they were planning to ask him questions about the direction of the team.
