we "need" to lose one of our remaining 2 to cement the jazz at the 8th? if so, we need to win on monday at all cost. then we go from there.

Jazz need to lose one more game otherwise they could still end up with 6th seed.

Blazers are 5-0 at home against the Lakers since drafting Roy and 1-5 away. It'd be great if they got 4th/5th seed with the Rockets at 2nd/3rd.

Not after tonight's Jazz loss. Utah has 2 more losses than the Mavs and Hornets. Dallas and New Orleans can thus lose 1 more game than Utah the rest of the way and still be 1 game ahead of Utah in the loss column.

Yeah, that's right except Dallas win out all the 3 games and NO lose all 3 then push Utah to #7. all in all, if jazz lose 1 or more games, the highest ranking they can get is #7. So, I guess we dont need to worry about Jazz any more.

But they're each capable of picking up 1 win without beating us. New Orleans can beat Dallas and Dallas can beat Minny. If that happens and Utah drops one more, then they're 8th. And the Rockets can beat the Mavs and Hornets and it wouldn't change that.

I would say lets wait to see the outcome of Mav@NO tomorrow. I would hope the NO beat Mav and we then should get a win at both NO and MAV.

If the Jazz lose only one more game, they could still finish 7th over the Hornets if New Orleans loses out.

And Houston may be the 2 seed if the Rockets win out.

The game against the Hornets is in Houston.

And not sure winning in Dallas right now is a "should win". I would think Vegas will have Dallas as the favorite in that game.

Everything I said in that post still applies.

It works your way too. You just flipped wins for losses.

Mainly because of high altitude and less foul calls by refs. But there offense wouldn't be the same without DW.

-Bad matchups. No Carmelo/Kobe/Roy type of player to guard on the wing with Artest and Battier.
-No one solid for Yao to guard. He has to guard Boozer or Okur and they are both bad matchups for him. No Chandler/Damp/Pryzbilla for him to guard where he basically doesn't have to worry about defense.
-Williams worst possible matchup for Brooks. You have Kidd,Paul, Parker, and Billups... so he probably is going to have trouble anyway, but Williams is the worst because of the size and ability to shoot AND post him up.

Counting Blazers a win would not be a surprise, anyway.

It looks like Utah didn't do themselves a favour by losing to Golden State.

It would appear that as long as we win against NO and DAL, we should hold onto at least the 3rd seed. Depending on whether Denver loses to Portland we could move up to 2nd.

At this stage it looks like we would be in the same bracket as Denver, New Orleans, and Dallas as long as we keep winning.

Ideal given we would not meet the lakers or the Jazz until the WCF.

    Go rockets!!
