Nice theory PhiSlammaJamma. They had enough time to duplicate the card and gave it to a scuba divier to do the trick. The key is to make the scuba diver 'invisible' and not to be seen by people inside the sub.
Let me try to expand on your theory. That suitcase has a hole which can be opened and closed. He dived through the hole and between the legs of the guy holding the suitcase onto a mattress. There must be a reason why the guy holding the suitcase stood way behind the other two guys on the sides.
Sorry, PhiSlammaJamma. That's not how he does it. MAGIC SPOILER: 1:51 woman begins writing on the card she has chosen 2:01 man tears card - here's a secret. He's deliberately tearing off the top-left corner (looking at the card face) of the card in a very specific way. This is because there is somebody outside the sub with a card that has the top-left corner torn off identically. He leaves just a small portion of the corner attached, knowing that the girl will just rip off the corner. 2:11 girl rips off remainder of card corner. (Why didn't he have the girl rip off whichever corner she wished? Because it would ruin the trick.) 2:18 other girl places card in to deck and shuffles 2:41 while man distracts people with talk and motions toward window, he feels through the deck (in his left hand) for the card that has the torn corner. 2:45 with both hands on the deck of cards, man transfers torn card from deck to his right hand. Torn card is now in his right hand. 2:48 man puts right hand in shirt pocket. He inserts the torn card into the folds of the red napkin. He pulls red napkin out of pocket and wipes glass with it. 3:12 man sprays deck of cards at glass. while cards are being spewed on glass, someone who is outside of the boat attaches a torn card to the glass. The torn card is held in place with a glass rod (which is transparent underwater). People do not see card get attached outside of glass because the deck of cards hitting the window obscures their view. 3:45 woman holds up her torn card corner to the glass. They appear to be a match, but actually they aren't. Remember, the card on the outside was intentionally torn to look like the woman's card. (Notice: why do we only see the back of the card, and not the face? Because it would ruin the trick - it's not really her card). 4:02 man partially unfolds napkin (it has the true card in it). He pretends to wipe window with napkin. 4:06 man unfolds napkin. Woman's card is stuck to one side of napkin (with slight adhesive) and that side is not revealed to people. the napkin is unfolded in such a way that the card is between the glass and the fabric. 4:23 man pushes on napkin. This bursts a very thin device that had been placed inside the napkin which contains fluid. 4:50 top half of napkin is lowered to show that false card is still stuck on glass. The correct card is between the lower half of the napkin and the window. 4:56 man tears into napkin. while he does this, the right edge of the napkin extends to the right edge of window. the false card on the outside (being held in place by glass rod) is pivoted toward the edge of the window that's covered so that the false card is no longer pressed against the glass. Man pulls true card out from hole in napkin. I could explain the briefcase trick, too. But I'd have to make illustrations.
I actually spent ten bucks learning how to do this "two dollar bills to two-dollar bill and vice versa" trick. Pretty cool as long as our resident Masked Magician doesn't reveal anything!
That explains it. Good stuff! The glass rod will help me figure out a lot of other tricks too. But what bout the salt shaker. I can't get a hold of that one. Somehow I think the pepper shaker is involved. But not sure. I have hard time believing he would use fake glass on the table. Someone could figure that out. So there must be something else to the trick like the pepper shaker. The Salt shakers appear real tho. Not fake in any way. And his hands only go below the table once on the trick (I think). So that doesn't seem to impact the trick. It seems a hard one to figure. I would guess he contols the salt shaker with a magnet somehow from above the table. But he still has to get it to change angle below the table and he still has to get rid of the shaker under the glass and he has to pull out a new shaker without anyone noticing. But there is no evidence that he could do any or all three of those things. He has his sleeves rolled down. But the sleeves are as flat as ever, so doesn't seem possible to get a shaker out of there. You never see the shaker below the table get tossed, and the salt shaker seems to have plenty of size so as to be difficult to change angles on the audience. Very confusing to figure out. His hands don't seem to reveal anything about the trick either. I can't quite put together a plausible answer.
It looks to me like he jumps into a hollow suitcase and possibly through the legs of the guy holding it - maybe doing a summersault or something like that. The background with the bricks is an optical illusion so he could have just vanished backstage.
No wonder we lost against Trinidad & Tobago... We have our best tricksters doing magic in Japan, instead of with the soccer team... I agree, Mr. B. One thing not shown on the card-through-submarine-yacht trick, TV footage skips when she's picking the card, and it seems to me that most of the cards on the right side of the camera shot are BLACK suits. Is this true? Also, when he points at the cards and throwing them at the window, the light behind the window is so bright (Mr. Brightside, no pun intended), we can't see who places that card behind the window. How come the windows are so bright? The Suitcase Trick: The guy holding the suitcase is NOT a complete guy. It's only his upper-body and hands, and we don't see the entire transformation because that other dude says some crap like "Ikishta na-kuttinishta!!!" or some **** like that to throw us off and then replays the disappearance. I think this is the latest trick to fool the 9/11 security dudes at the airport. The Burger trick: How come the camera angles are NOT from the profile view of where the frame of the burger drawings are? How come they don't remove the frame of the pictures from the wall? These and other questions tonight on "GERALDO!"
