If Orlando is trying to clear cap space, a straight up trade for SF3 for T-Mac makes some sense for Orlando. They clear about $4 mil in cap space because we can use our trade exception. In return, they get an extremely talented and still young star to build around. But would Dawson do it because it probably takes the Rox over the cap? I think TMac would like it. He gets to go to a proven team that would obviously be upgraded w/ his presence. The spoiler would be if the Fakers can swing a Kobe trade.
That's a deal I would think the Magic would be very interested in. They get a star in Francis for McGrady. They can unload the Hill contract and probably be UNDER the cap to SIGN a medium size FA THIS offseason. AND they would have a top 3 pick. Plus guys in Mobley and Cato to fill out their starting lineup with guys like Howard and Gooden still there. I agree that the Magic would LOVE to be able to couple Hill into any McGrady trade as it would seriously dump salary. Hard to imagine TWO MAX contracts going out from one team! If they trade McGrady they are basically starting over and dumping salary is a huge component with that. And then you add in the fact you can get Francis too? What Orlando WANTS and what they get are two different things. Remember, Orlando is going to work WITH McGrady to place him on a team of HIS choosing (provided Orlando can get quality talent back). Does anyone think McGrady is going to want to go to a losing team? Anyone? Next. The only way to move McGrady and take LESS salary back (young hot talents as you suggested) is to a team that is UNDER the cap (or has a TE) so they can make up the salary differential. The only team that I see that has TALENT (and under the cap) that can make that kind of move is the LA Clippers (Brand, Maggette, Q, Wilcox are all solid assets). The Bulls on the other hand are over the cap so they have to send big contracts BACK to get McGrady. What's the point if you are Orlando? While Orlando MIGHT be interested in Curry or Chandler, they would still have to take on some monster contracts like Davis or Robinson. They wouldnt be intereted in that at all. Even if the Clippers are a team you could target, is McGrady going to want to go there? Doubtful. In my opinion..... McGrady wants - to go to a winning team. A team where he has a sidekick. Probably a team that has a solid low post game to match up with his outside game. Orlando Magic want - probably to send him to the West (versus the East where they would see him 4 times a year). They would love to send out as much salary as possible (Hill would tremendous) to get under the cap and at the same time get some talent back. If they can get a star player than all the better. And of course if they can get draft picks that is a bonus too. In my opinion, the Rockets fill all of these criterias (for both McGrady AND Magic) except the fact we dont have draft picks this year to throw in. But we could throw in next years.
so we can have a line up of yao.. t-mac... okafor... JJ.. and boki for next season? I hope it doesn't happen.. I may be out of country next year... It woudl suck if I have endured the francis-mobley era and then have to miss out on yao and tmac time
T-Mac a Rocket? trading SF for T-mac would be perfect... Mcgrady is unselfsih.... and will fit in with Yao.... Thoughts.................a perfect trade.
I think it will happen, just not an even swap. There will have to be more players involved (cato maybe?)
How about this. Cato + Talor for KG, SF for Nash, JJ for Peja, Mobley+Pike for T-Mac? We will be all set with Yao KG Peja T-Mac Nash
Why do you guys talk about trade even just before playoff? Could we be a little positive and support? If we survive a first round, do you still want to trade Steve ? I am excited in watching rockets-fakers series, Are you?
I don't understand the logic of getting an all-star shooting guard when what we have is essesentially an all-star sg (Francis) and an all-star caliber sg (Cat)....I thought the whole pt of trading francis was finding a pg that can run the team more effectively...so y trade for a player who has to have the ball in his hands A LOT to be effective...thats just like going for AI.
No because T-Mac can actually hit his Sweet J, drive to the hoop get fouled and still finish, as well as complete a fastbreak layup. Plus its not like we are asking him to run the offense, just get his shots when passed, or when pass drive it in. Yao T-Mac and a point like brent barry would be awesome!!! (then go after that bruising power foward)
