You need to calm down, buddy. It's not even a set deal that Brand is going to Utah. In fact it's just PURE rumor, nothing more.

I agree with Desert Scar, the Clips have to spend an additional $20M, so why spend it on junk instead of Brand?

The "S&T Brand or he walks and the Clips get nothing" argument just doesn't fly. Who have the Clippers ever signed and traded? They've let all of their high dollar free agents walk for nothing.

If Brand really wanted to go to Utah that bad, isn't it strange that his agent was negotiating with the Spurs all weekend?

If I had to bet, my money would be on Brand accepting the Clippers one year tender offer. He won't risk the Clippers matching an offersheet from another team. Even next offseason, the Clippers can offer a much more lucrative deal to Brand than anybody else, so if they did want to do a sign and trade, then they don't have to do it now.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the Clips match Maggette's offer. As long as they have to spend the money, they might as well spend it on a young player with potential.

I don't believe that Odom will get a good enough offer for him to risk signing an offer sheet. Unless Miami comes in with a significant offer to Odom, he's better off just taking the 4.7M, one year tender offer and becoming unrestricted next year.

Why on earth Elton Brand would want to play on Utah is beyond my comprehension. Besides, Both Kirilenko and Harpring only have two years remaining on their contracts.

There are thousands of rumors out there and people dont post threads about them to waste serve space. Except you. So which is it,is your thrread a complete joke and I should calm down,or is it a done deal and can I get permission from you my daddy to be a little angry. Let me guess, you live in Utah.

Firstly, you need to calm down because you're ripping into Brand like HE HAS LEFT THE CLIPS FOR UTAH. That isn't the case, so why b**** and cry about it?

Secondly, I stated in the original post that this was only WORD OF MOUTH or AKA RUMOR. That is all it is, a rumor - nothing more. I posted it because nothing else is going on in the NBA today, except for the Webber money fiasco, and how Kobe can't keep his dick in his pants.

If you get this bent out of shape over a rumor, you're in need of some serious mental help.

And how the hell does me living in Utah have any bearing on whether or not I should start this thread?

Well by the looks of your spelling and grammar errors I'm going to guess you're 10, 12 tops?

Well, they did do a couple of sign and trades.

    Lamond Murray for Derek Anderson.

Lorenzen Wright to Atlanta (was it just 2 first round picks?)

Since it doesn't look like we'll get Brand, here's a 3 team trade that could encourage the Clippers to deal & help us fill a need position.

Houston sends Mobley to the Clippers.

The Clippers S&T Brand to Utah.

    Utah sends Harpring/Borchardt to Houston.
Utah sends a future #1 pick to the Clippers.

If Brand's threat of signing the one year tender from the Clippers & walking away for nothing next year works, then the Clippers might consider Mobley & a #1 pick worth taking in exchange. That way, they get a solid talent with a contract that fits Sterling's penny-pinching ways to a "T".

Houston gets a sweet shooting/rebounding SF in Harpring & a big man that has potential (assuming he's healthy). We could resign Posey (6'8"), move him to the SG position & then sign Piatkowski to back him up. Posey would give us both size & defense at the guard position.

If Utah really signs Maggette, then they might be willing to give Harpring up for a shot at one of the best young PF's in the game today. Since Utah has so much cap space available, they could absorb the difference in salaries to make the deal work. Just a thought.

No jazzfan,I dont try to make it perfect because I figured I wasnt going to be graded by a bunch of teachers on a freaking basketball site.

And if you think my grammer is bad, head over to GARM.Btw, Im not bent out of shape. If anybody is bent out of shape its you for telling me what to do like you own me. Typical attitude of utah nuts.

Second, just so every rocket fan here knows, this guy(?) got his INFO from THE ROCKETS ESPN MESSAGE BOARD !!! LOL

Yes, I did research while this jazz fan was trying to criticize my grammer, and I found out that moron jazz fans on realgm are talking about a rumor they heard ON THE ROCKETS ESPN MESSAGE BOARD about maggettes brother.

For the record, sean, the rockets espn board is an absolute complete joke and the moron jazz fans on realgm that are taking this seriously also need mental help like you suggested for me.

Also, the rockets espn board made it up and the moron jazz fans bought it hook line and sinker. I figured that here on clutchcity I could be away from moronic made up rumors for attention and I was wrong. So yes, you win. I had no idea when I posted that your insightful thread was based on a made up joke on the rockets espn board. Sorry. Oh,and all you have to do is look at the utah fans saying seriously believeing that the clippers will take ameci for brand and that shoudl tell you who really needs help.

And ,since WHEN am I not allowed to go to a rockets game and trash talk the opposing team players? SEE THATS WHY I DONT GO TO ROCKET GAMES BECAUSE OF GOD LIKE FIGURES IN THE STANDS TELLING ME WHAT I CAN AND CANNOT DO.Going to a rockets game is like going to church. God forbid you say anything bad about the other team or esle youll go to hell according to some fans.

Uh I didn't get it from that board - I got it from a local radio news station. I in fact only saw the rumor on the Rockets board after the fact and checked it out.

And of course, it was only a rumor - something I've seen a lot posted on this board. If you feel you must attack every rumor, go ahead and have a good ol' time. But word of advice, don't piss on someone until you fully understand that IT MAY NEVER HAPPEN.

Let me guess though, if this were the other way around and it were the Rox, you'd be eating it up, no?

Finally, when did I ever say you couldn't go to a Rockets game and yell at other players. If you want to spend $_ dollars to piss and moan at a player, I aint gonna stop you.

You just seem like you've got some anger problems, that is all. Just take a chill pill and I'm sure you'll feel a lot better.

Kind of an odd bargaining strategy for Falk and Brand, but one that might work.

As far as playing with Maggette....great, but why not play with FRANCIS?

I guess I can still dream that we've already got a sign and trade for Brand worked out and that everything else is just distraction/noise.

But for the love of God, Utah? I guess there are some brothers who like the peace and quiet, and mountain biking, or something.

"Cup of coffee, please. (pause) Thank you. (sips) PFFFFTT! Yuck! What is this?"

    "Decaf."

    "Gimme real coffee."

(restaurant breaks into laughter) "Son you're new here, you'll get used to it."

    OR,

    "Gimme a MGD."

    "We got O'Doul's."

    "Damn."

If Utah really wants Brand, then they should offer a 1yr max contract and force Cippers to match it. What this does is give Brand more money now and later. If he settle and take Clipps 1 yr tender, it will only be about 6m. If utah makes him the offer i'm talking about, then he can get double that. Either way it win-win. If howard and Rasho exits Minny, maybe my idea of Taylor and Cato for Jackson and Brandon will get done.

Offer sheets have to be for at least a 3 years or more.

FA contracts cannot be 1 year..... I believe they must be a min of 3 years....with maybe a PO allowed after the 2nd.

Well today's Salt Lake Tribune said the Jazz won't try and sign Brand, so the only way they'll get him is by either waiting until next year or doing a sign and trade.

The next few days will be telling.

Actually, the SLT's article says that the Jazz can't acquire Brand this year, at all. The Clippers have upped their offer and aren't going to do a S&T. Pretty much the same stuff that people have been saying in this thread.

But Brand, widely considered the Jazz's top target, especially once Karl Malone decided to depart, is no longer available. The Clippers last weekend increased their offer to the power forward to $78 million over six years, executive vice president Andy Roeser told the Los Angeles Times, surpassing the maximum $76 million, six-year deal that the Jazz are allowed to bid.
It also surpasses, by a whopping $63 million, the largest contract that Clippers owner Donald Sterling has ever authorized -- the five-year, $15 million deal extended to Eric Piatkowski in 1998.
Since the Clippers have the right to match any contract Brand accepts from another team, and since the team has signaled it is not interested in sign-and-trade offers, there is no way that the 6-foot-8 forward can leave L.A. this season. If Brand is interested in switching teams, his only option is to accept a one-year deal from the Clippers and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

I guess the Clippers have gone all in. It's up to Brand to decide whether they're bluffing. I still say they're bluffing.

Right. The only way they could get him is if they traded Brand for a Jazzman (not going to happen).

But I feel that if Maggette signs, Brand very well may be in a Jazz uniform for the 04-05 season.
