If we learned anything from last year's Rashard Lewis pursuit, Maggette's gonna have money very high on his priority list.

That's the bottom line, he isn't going to be taking any discount to play in Houston.

I believe if the Rockets want to WIN next season, Alexander should allow payroll to finally go over the cap if need be.

We are already over the cap, around 13 mill over, we just aren't over the luxury tax.

Maggette is obviously one of the best players that would fill our hole. The problem is of course getting him. With him opting out, he's looking for money and rings. Now we dont have a heck a lot of money, but with Maggette we could be a title contender if the team stays healthy. But other teams prolly want him more and can offer him more. The Lakers will definitely try to get him, to fill their SF spot. They got more money than us (I think) and have players to expend. Odom used to play well with Brand, so the Clips would want him. Plus, the Lakers are a championship caliber team as we have seen this year, without Bynum half the season.

So the bottom line is that, we really cant get Maggette. There are better options on the table for him which he wont pass unless he sees something special in Houston which I really doubt.

in cavs forum they are talking about getting mcgrady and doing a 3 team trade with milwaukee that would send michael redd and anderson varejao to the rockets
i would never give up tmac for redd
ok redd is a good scoorer and shooter but not as good as mcgrady
redd and yao i'm not sure
    yao has to be healthy

The Spurs were a bad call and a healthy Ginobli away from beating the Lakers. If they get even two decent, young, rotation players or one good player they are probably the favorite in the West again.

I'm torn on my interest in Maggette. Obviously, he fits the scorer/slasher mold that Morey described and would undoubtedly bolster our offense, I just think it all depends on the price we're talking since he has some definite flaws as well.

In addition to the durability issues he has a little Ricky Davis in him. You know, the "lights up the stats sheet but doesn't really know how to win" type of shot selection, defensive lapses, stupid TO's and other detriments that keep a player of his athleticism and skill level from being an elite player

If he demands something like $10-15 million a year, I think we would be better off sinking our prayers into landing an Elton Brand type instead. If he accepts something in the $8-10 million a year range then i'm definitely interested.

Got that right! I like his game and his competitiveness. I think he fit in right with coach Adelmans system.

They have to sign Bynum this off-season.

yes we need a pg but if we get maggatte Tmac has the luxury to play a position like Odom has on the lakers...a distrubuter 1st then scorer 2nd...this would be a good deal for us since maggette can get to the rim as well....who would we have to give up?

Adding this kind of firepower might elevate the Rockets to the next level. Surely, they'd be serious championship contenders with Maggette and a healthy Yao and T-Mac. You can't say enough about the importance of Maggette's free-throw shooting, either. I'd love to see the Rockets add either T.J. Ford or Maggette if they could do it without losing any of their starters. Even if Maggette or Ford ended up starting, I think it would be important to hang on to both Battier and Alston for their defense, team play, durability and experience in the system. Losing either one, in my book, would be a deal-breaker.

OK....now it looks like he will sign for the MLE.....screw Carl Landry, let him walk....

Can we do a SnT with the Clippers for Battier to give him some more money?

    Go after Magette Morey.........STAT !!!
