The thing I like about Maggette is that he is a scorer. Some guys shoot 3s well, some guys get to the rim and then some guys just get buckets. Maggette just gets buckets whether it be at the rim, at the line or even with the jumper.

He is EXACTLY what this team needs. A big SG who flat out scores. The fact that he goes to the rim so much will put so much pressure on the opposing team and certainly have more interior guys in foul trouble which allows Yao and even Scola and Landry to ball against second stringers more than they got to last season.

Problem with that is you use up the MLE when you initially sign Landry, leaving nothing for Maggettee. I'd love to pick up Duhon and bring back Gerald Green, though. I've got the "DD bug" for Green - he's going to be good. :)

NO. We wouldn't have enough money if we didn't sign CL. Maggette will want more than the mle after being stuck in LA

Ok Rocket fans, Maggette opting out is probably the biggest news that potentially will impact our team and our progress next season!!!

We must try all our efforts to get him this summer!!! If we're going to sign just one player this summer---it has to be Corey Maggette!

Corey Maggette is exactly what our team is lacking!!!

Lets just look at superficially how Maggette will help our team once he arrives in a Rockets uniform.

-Relentless driving to the basket creates fouls regularly, and Corey sinks his freethrows!
-The fouls Corey draws will mean the opposition will have to bring bench players in early, reducing their starter's minutes.
-The fouls drawn will enable Yao and T-Mac, especially Yao, to score greatly as they cannot afford to foul him as much
-We need that scorer, and Maggette is a prolific scorer!

Sign and trade...MLE doesn't look very appealing to be honest.

How about we sign the better player first, Maggette. Then we can worry about the undersized backup power foward.

I don't know if we really have much of a chance of getting a guy like him through free agency but if we can I think that takes priority over Landry.

    1) why would you want to trade Maggette for Battier....it is pretty much a lateral move offense for defense.

    2) DD...you have been one of those guys that i've noticed that mentions how our stars in injury prone but for some reason love Maggette. I seriously can't remeber the last time he played a full season or close to it.

Last season he played in 75 games, this season in 70 games. That's as good as it's going to get.

Agreed. We just need another scorer to compliment battier's defense and smart play.

is that tough to get, hooroo?

To go to a team that is a winner and get away from the Clippers organization.

How many times have we seen that from a player under 30. I suspect its just to put pressure on the Clippers to pay him more, what any smart player would do. Hey, everyone else is getting overpaid.

you don't think that's what the Rockets need?? I'm not saying a trade like that wins us a championship, but it has a better chance of getting us past the first round. And while your unlikely to find anyone quite as good as Shane, you wuld still have the MLE at that point...and can worry about making it past the second round next offseason...at this point, that'd be a great problem to have...

Maggette is another player who has injury prolems. We allready have trouble with Yao and T-Mac. The last thing we need is a 'third scorer' who can't get onto or stay on teh court becasue of injury.

If it's a choice between Maggette or Landry chose Landry.

Hey, he REALLY opted out, giving us at least a realistic sniff of him.

What? Sorry, I love Landry, but Maggette is a proven 20ppg scorer in the league......I would live with Scola and Hayes or a draft pick if we could acquire Magette for Landry....

DD- I'm glad u have finally accepted the rox need more than hustle and glue guys. The problem is Odom has a 15m expiring contract. Lakers could trade Odom for Maggette in a sign and trade and pay him 10m per. The clipps could meet their salary minimum. If u were Maggette would u rather play with Kobe,Pau,Bynum and Phil along with making 10m on a team that is in the finals or the rox and mle money?
