Nah, I would trade Shane for him........start Magette at the SG and slide Tmac to his more natural SF spot....

Sign Azubuke to come off the bench and then get a PG if you can......that team would compete.

maggette is a very good possibility. as long as hes healthy for the playoffs it will be a big boost for this team. i dont know if he will take 5 mil a year though hes easily worth nine or ten mil.

Can you trade two players for one in a SnT deal or is it limited to one on one?
And what are the rules regarding combining a player and TE to get a higher salary ?

If they do trade Battier is it possible we could then trade Dada for Battier? Seriously get off Battier's butt. He is more vital to any teams success than Maggette. On top of that its not like we need to trade Battier to acquire someone of Maggette's caliber. We could easily have our cake and eat it to. Unless you value Brooks over Battier which in case god help us all.

1999-2001 Duke Teams FTW. Can you imagine how good an NBA team would be with Battier, Brand, Maggette, Dunleavy, Duhon and Boozer? And that's without their best player J-Will. Say they get a suitable replacement for him...T-Mac? That's an NBA championship contender.

IIRC, that's allowed. snt deals functions really like a normal trade, except that there's a couple of restrictions on the # of years of the signed contracts etc.

again, TE can not be combined... in some scenarios, a player+TE could be switched for 2 or more players, but that's because the trade itself could be broken into 2 separate ones to avoid the combination issue. when planning trades, DO NOT start to try combining TEs for higher salaries. it will get you nowhere. promised. :)

So we could trade them something like Battier and Bjax for Magette in a SnT, and get him in the 13 or 14 million range?

Maggette is gonna want some dough-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-dough.

Are the Clips gonna be under the cap after July 1? If they let Livingston walk---hobble is more like it, poor dude---they might be. Then Maggette can be traded without BYC implications. I think.

It would be nice if this guy's on our radar.

the problem with that though, is why would clips want an extra 13 to 14 million salary? :)

remember, expirings are not attractive in snt trades. if clips want to shed off salary, they could simply let magette walk and save the salary all together.

IF a SnT is agreed by both teams, it HAS to be some player or draft picks that clips really want, and believes worth the incoming salary.

Battier and a end of career backup PG are not worth 13 to 14 mil IMO, not worth that much to clips anyway.

I don't think Maggette even started a game at Duke. Crazy.

If having a serious shot at Maggette means a SnT in the $10-15 million dollar range consider me uninterested and all for going after Elton Brand instead.

Elton Brand on this team would bolster us into the 60+ win range and make us instant contenders.

They could use the expiring in a trade to upgrade their roster rather than losing a guy for nothing AND they also have Battier an underated player that most coaches and GMs love.

Ultimately it will be up to Magette, if he decides on Houston, the Clippers will have to deal with us, or let him walk for nothing.

    Here are possible senarios.

I don't see houston acquiring any big name, or semi-named FA as we GOT NO CAP ROOM!!! people read it out loud, we got no money to sign big name FA!!!

We may trade for a S&T FA, but given our limited asset during summer, i doubt it. (Bjax's expiring contract worth more toward the trade deadline)

I see we move up in draft picks, wait until summer training camp to see how everyone is feeling and doing.

How's SF coming along? How's Yao feeling? Tmac's health?

we will make some noises before the trade deadline for an upgrade.

that's it, i see we making one or two trades for a good player like miller, artest, CM type.

if SF is coming back healthy enough, i see him taken over Bjax's mins.

Yeah I agree with the post that Maggette should start and Shane come off the bench. Shane didn't start for one of the worst franchises in the league the Grizzles then we trade a lottery pick and Swift to get him. Now he is this glue guy who should be defensive player of the year yeah right. He hustles hard on defense and high basketball IQ just doesn't not a good enough athlete to be defensive player of the year. If he can't start in Memphis I don't trust that he is a starter for us.

i think maggette would be perfect for this term but a big sign and trade contract is dangerous. the guy has averaged about 65 games a year for his career and he is going into his 10th NBA season.

Sounds like Yao and Tmac...he would fit right in....they could all rotate missing time and by the playoffs they are all healthy.

I'd be hard pressed to give CM much more than the MML let alone 13-14mm.
I'd be hard pressed to swap CM straight up for Shane let alone cede an asset (BJax' contract).

Perhaps we could get Mag for like 9-10 a year. I think the only way he comes here though is if he wants to. Seems like he has always wanted a bigger role though. Yao is the #1 option for sure. Tmac and Mag would make great 2nd A and 2nd B options. Have Battier come off the bench (although I think he is the piece we'd have to trade to get him) and watch Rick's offense average 110 a game. That would be sweet but I don't think is realistic. :(

if we really want to get him, we have to snt with clippers, battier, landry, bjax, second round pick, and have maggette for 12 mil for 3 yrs, third year a player option..thats the only way i could think of that clippers and maggette would want to do. it depends how big of a hope Morey has in landry, and his knee.

I have always wanted him on the Rockets, but "ten NBA seasons?" That surprises me. You guys work out the money, just no "CD" contracts. For a bargain price, yes; for a premium price, no.
