Pretty amazing that all of this was actually caught and recorded on a camera..and didn't mysteriously vanish. After someone has voluntarily given himself up and handcuffed, why the heck did the officer think it was a good idea to body slam the dude to the ground? The guy clearly didnt understand the questions that were being asked...and he never seemed to be an imminent threat to the cops. Poor guy...probably someone who came to visit family etc...and then decided to take a walk outside on the sidewalk within the neighborhood.

Maybe if people talked to them once in a while, rather than treating them like the plague, they might be friendlier. The ones in my neighborhood are extremely friendly to me- B/C I TALK TO THEM! D..s..t.

He was apprehended and totally in control by the police. They could have easily taken a 57 year old skinny Indian (who doesn't smile and stares at people because that's what all those brownies do) into the car. But NOOOOOOO, they had to body slam him to teach him a lesson.

FACT is if he was a white guy he wouldn't have gotten that treatment. This isn't just an abuse and unnecessary force, it's freaking racist.

If you don't get that, you're a pig.

It's quite a logic leap to assume racism.

I am reminded of an incident that happened to an acquaintance of mine a few summers ago. He was on a summer internship out of town, so new to the area. He liked going on long strolls in the evenings, and one day as he was out walking he was stopped by police officers asking for his ID, etc. Apparently someone had called and complained about him. And, yes, he was Indian, particularly dark-skinned. No harm came to him, fortunately.

I can't say if the brutality in this instance (with the old man) had anything to do with race. But I do think it is very likely that the reason the call was made against him in the first place was because he had dark skin.

Why would you think that? Your default is to assume racism?

Everyone is aware of what your stance would be on this topic and any other subject matter involving minorities (deny racism, give benefit of doubt to white people). Then you go around making threads depicting minorities in a bad light.

You are the LAST PERSON to be taken seriously in threads such as these.

    you mad bro?

How about we stay on topic instead of childish personal attacks?

Not at all. It's the details of the story that lead me to think it was his dark, "black" appearance that led to the call being made against him. What do you consider the more likely reason?

After listening to the actual call, I'll correct myself. A stranger walking very close to other people's homes, on the driveways even, would reasonably make someone suspicious who's first priority is to make sure his family at home is safe. Race need not have anything to do with it. I won't fault the caller.

It really doesn't matter much what the caller think or how he was motivated. The cop was called upon to investigate and handle the situation and need to do so appropriately.

To me, that cop just have little respect for his job or for people. Slamming an old skinny guy down is similar to treating him like a dog. Even a dog is treated better. You don't slam a dog down to the floor just because you got hate for it. Well, actually you do because you got too much hate. He should never have been in the job.

Body cam for all Cops should be standard issue to rid of these bad apples and keep the good one.

Good post. More people need to assess the facts at hand rather than simply jumping to the race card.

What does the caller have to do with anything... The person who slammed the already detained old man to the ground was not the person who made the call.

I was just correcting myself. The police officer was clearly totally out of bounds in his behavior.
