For anybody that has NCAA 2003 and Madden 2003 for PS2, can you tell me, are the controls similar? Just curious. I have NCAA and was just wondering if I'd have to learn a new set of controls.
I did a draft with the Texans and also made a trade for Carr..so far I'm 8-2 in my first season...Shaun Alexander is mr RB and is awesome but my best player is Shockey....dude has hands like glue
Eddie--- The controls are basically the same. Iknow that Madden doesn't have the pitch button but other than that I think there are not any significant differences. Prempeh-- I got the game and found out you couldn't move the OL's which is something I wanted to do. Instead i just used TE's where i want ed the linemen to get the same effect. CK
Is anyone able to score inside the 10 with any of the normal formations? I can score with the fun & gun 5 wide receiver formation I made (no one can stop me). However, I don't really like using that because it's too easy. Outside of the Texans, I really like playing as the Broncos. The counter trey's for Portis work really well if you're good at using the stiff arm and can cut back well. They also have a lot of good receivers and excellent passing formations. Of course, it still doesn't work inside the 10... wish I could figure that out.
I've only played with the Titans so far. the only real money plays I've found for short yardage passing are strong i normal - TE slant in strong i 3wr - flats attack (rb is almost never covered. can get 3-4 yards at least, guaranteed)
I'm a football fan, both NCAA and CFl, but Madden isn't too my likings at all. Neither is NFL2k3. I like NCAA 2003 for some reason.
I know on Playstation 2 you can use your memory card to transfer your NCCA players to Madden. Can you do this with the X-Box too?
Madden on X-Box Madden on XBox : Can you transfer your college players from the NCCA game like you can on Playstation 2?
I think the most fun thing to do on Madden is do a franchise and keep trading until your team is godly. You get plenty of trading power by signing free agents every off-season and then trading them. Right now, I'm playing on all-pro and completely kicking the computers a$$. I have Culpepper and Tomlinson, and my offensive line is GOD. Plus I got Tony Gonzalez, in my mind one of the most unfair players in the game. TE... 90 jump... huh? Oh yeah... Tony Gonzalez is my only player over 26 years old (he's 27). My last game I killed the computer like 90-7, and Urlacher (the player I always control on defense) had an interception, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, 3 sacks, 2 tackles for losses, and 9 total tackles. Weeeeee!
Drexlerfan22 I know what you mean. I like to build a killer defence for my Cowboys teams. In Madden 2000 on PS1 I had a Bucks side thats was just stacked. A defense that allowed just over one touchdown per game and andoffence that was scoring over 50. Running back that I drafted was just unstoppable. The average age of the side was about 23 when they won their first SB. Put it this way, Randy Moss was one of the vetran players. I think they should have like a 5 trade limit per season on Madden. Or maybe a deal where you cant trade a player you have signed untill the second year of his contract. Anyway I cant wait to get Madden 2003. Just oen thing, anyone get a player they always like to have in their side. I always have had Darren Woodson (Cowboys SS) in my linup and have traded for him when I didnt play as the Cowboys. If anyone plays on PC we should hook up for an ip game. Post back if you're interested. My icq# 103466219
I started playing it this weekend and got hooked on the Franchise mode as well. I have a few questions that maybe somebody can answer. Is it possible to use your franchise team to play outside of the franchise mode? If I have a killer team, can I use that team to play a regular game against one of my friends? Also, lost of Madden Cards are locked, and you have to have another EA Sports game to unlock some of them. If I have another game, how do I unlock the card? One more, I don't have the book so this may be a basic question. What does it mean when your players start turning yellow in the formation screen. Does it mean they are tiring or does it mean they are warming up? Someone please help with these questions. Thanks!
On the PC you can export your franchise team to a revised roster and scrimmage any team you want. Not sure about the other question.
I'm really not sure about the locked cards thing with other games. I would imagine it would somehow check your memory card for data on the right game (ala Metal Gear Solid), but I don't know how you'd initiate it. As for using your franchise in other modes, you can export your team and do that in the PS2 version, as apparently Cato says we can in the PC version. Yes, when the players turn yellow that means they are getting tired. Your running back is usually the only player where this is an issue. If your starting HB has low stamina (for me, anything under 85) you should have your back-up be a 3rd-down running back (3DRB in the depth chart). The game will then sub in your backup automatically on third down, unless you are within 5 yards of the 1st (then you probably want your starter making the run). In that case, your starter will not be subbed out. The game also subs out players automatically at 65% endurance, and puts them back in at 80%. You can adjust both these settings in gameplay, but you must save it to your profile to keep it that way.
in madden 2003 which i rented, ihavent really picked one, but in madden 2001, i always got randy moss and leroy butler. butler was an interception machine and moss was always available in a trade with ease.
Thanks Cato and Drexler. I will try to export my Franchise team that way. I still cannot figure out the Madden Cards though.
On PS2 the game checks the memory card. If you have a racing game or NCAA save files on it it unlocks the cards and you get a copy of them. unlocking the player cards gives you a Bronze,Silver and gold copy of the card. It also rechecks everytime you start the game so if you sell those cards off you get them back on the next restart. CK
I have always found you needed to trade more important players for Moss. For instance I'd rather keep a great linebacker then have a great WR. One thing I have found myself doing in Madden games is trading Aikman and Emmitt Smith. You have to go for the youth
One thing that Madden 2003 really focuses now for trades is team needs. If you want to trade a player and get max value out of it, look around for the team that most desperatley needs what you've got. Trading an "80" HB to a team whose HB are all "65" or below will get you nearly anything. Also remember that each player is given an importance (IMP) rating. If you had Peyton Manning, say, and your next QB was a "60" rating, his importance will be full. But say (and this is a ludicrous example, but you'll get the picture) that you have Manning and Favre. Both of their importance ratings might be 80/100. Therefore, if you want a good DT, look to get one from a team that has 2-3 good ones already, because that will make those players easier to get. It's sometimes very useful to sort a position in the league by import, just to see what sort of players you can get that are a steal in that their rating is high, but importance low. Lastly, remember that having too many good players at one position will make their ratings go down in franchise, simply because they need more playing time to stay good. If your 6th reciever is a "75" trade someone, that's too much. Here's an example of using import (IMP) to your advantage from my game: Situation: I have La'Roi Glover (91 Ovr) and Sam Adams (84 Ovr) at DT. DT is a position I value quite a bit, so I want to get younger and better. First, I consider what I can get and what my target(s) need. For this particular trade, I am trying to get Corey Simon (93) and Shaun Rogers (89), so my targets are the Eagles and Lions. A position of importance that the Eagles have a need for is MLB, since Jeremiah Trotter signed with the Redskins. So, my next goal is to find a team with an awesome MLB and a great need at DT, which is easy: Ravens. Sam Adams is gone and Tony Siragusa retired, resulting in their starter being somewhere around 65 overall. I offer La'Roi Glover (91) for Ray Lewis (99): trade accepted. I also get a 2nd and 4th round pick out of the them, because DT might be the most critical defensive position in football (next to maybe CB). Next comes Ray Lewis (99) for Corey Simon (93): trade accepted. Once again I extract picks as well. I now have Corey Simon and Sam Adams, and still want Shaun Rogers. I look at the Lions roster, and the most glaring weakness is a 60 overall TE (David Sloan). Since I just got the Eagles' only good DT, I can now trade Sam Adams (84) for the Eagles' All-Pro TE Chad Lewis (88) and picks. I then trade Chad Lewis (88), a 1st-rounder, and a 2nd-rounder to the Lions for Shaun Rogers (89) and a 4th-round pick. My trading is now done: I have replaced my DTs with two better, younger, lower-paid players, and I also came out with more draft picks than I started with. And all this came from paying attention to the IMP rating.
