That's the funny thing about people going crazy of some of the "new" Madden features like the presentation with Nantz and Simms. NFL 2K5 (linked for the unaware) had that. It had Chris Berman giving the halftime and post game reports. They included actual highlights also and he would say what was happening (simple things like "McNabb went deep on this 50 yard pass to Owens"). You could also play as the quarterback in first person mode. That game was better than any Madden. I hope the NFL does not extend those rights and 2k thinks about making a new NFL game.
You actually can't get roster updates unless you are xbox gold so technically you do have to pay for them. Madden has always done the same thing: Take features away one year, add them back the next and call it new.
Lol at everyone whining about franchise mode being gone... It's still there, but with the ability to have more control than ever, if you want.
Indeed. It's sorta like having to have Xbox Live Gold to use Netflix on Xbox. Microsoft is to blame, not EA or Netflix.
My opinions so far, though I haven't got to play it all that much- The physics engine is a very good addition and makes the gameplay better. Everything just looks much more fluid. Main reason I bought this game was the Connected Careers mode, I thought that sounded incredibly awesome. And it really should be, but there's a few things holding it down. For one, I really really really hate the interface. Its a pain to move around and stuff. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet (i really haven't played much), but I didn't really get far in playing just because I hated the interface. Last year's worked better, and even that wasn't great. Just keep it simple. The fact that Connected Careers can be played online sounds really really cool but I haven't tried that yet. Don't have any friends that I know of with the game yet.
Yeeeaaaaahhhhh... so I was all prepared to agree with you. Then I got the game and started an offline career. Without going into a laundry list of all the things that are wrong, here are the biigest two lowlights: *The interface is brokenly awful beyond belief. If the worst interface for franchise mode ever in a Madden game previously was a 5/10, this is a 0/10. *Trade logic is non-existent. I understand that they wanted to make it harder for people to easily build a freakin' fantasy team through trades, but making virtually every starter untradable isn't a solution. You can seriously offer 3 1st-rounders for a 79-overall, 30-year-old starter on a non-playoff team, and they'll go "I don't think we're willing to trade him, he's a starter." HUH!?
Finally got some decent sliders put in and it make the game more realistic. Any way to get rid of the 12 instant replays after every play? I really don't need to see 3 replays of every incomplete pass before the next play screen comes up. I can't find anything in the settings to turn it off. Funny thing about the instant replay, after I intercepted a pass for a TD, they only showed a quick replay of me running from the 20 to the 10, then cut if off. But if you want to see a 1 yard run, they show that to you 3 times in super slow-mo.
I'm pretty sure I've just pressed 'A' during those replays to bring the play screen back up, and the replay keeps going on behind it.
Thank you Sir, the interface is the most clunky piece of garbage I have ever seen, I returned it for $35 store credit the other day that I'll be putting to Assasins Creed. If you play franchise mode I do not know how you could possibly like the game as it is completely broken.
Honestly, how often does that kind of trade happen? I'll answer for you, rarely to never. Seems about right to me.

Can I ask what sliders you're using? Are you using them in Play Now, Online CCM or Offline CCM? From what I'm reading, the sliders work very differently in each mode. I've been trying a bunch of different slider sets and I THINK I'm narrowing it down now. But, I've only played and used them in an online CCM.
Just traded my copy in for some store credit...this game got boring and repetitive real quick... Guess I'll just wait for 2k13...

It never occurred to me sliders would be different for different modes. I may look at that site again when I get home to find some better ones for Play Now. Anyone know how often EA updates their roster info? They still don't reflect the trade the Texans made last week (McMannis for Klutts) or any of the final roster cuts.
