Most certainly no one knows, but I was throwing McGahee out because he's been talked about so much. As VesceySux said, and I concur, it can be any RB for the future. It just seems that whomever we sign now (Mack) will not be the long-term starter at that position, but will get one, maybe two years of starting before the Texans go in a different direction. I was interpreting the fact that Davis didn't sign and Mack was allegedly not going to sign (although we know that report was wrong) as being an indication that free agent RBs know they are not the long-term solution here, so they are more hesitant to sign. Obviously that isn't bothering Stacey Mack, so perhaps my point doesn't hold water.

I still don't think he's the "long term" solution to the RB position, but he's a nice fit for a time.

I've got Fred Taylor in my keeper league, so I like this signing.

Mack isnt too bad, better than James Allen.

Yea, I heard about the Texans and Mack agreeing on a contract this morning. I'm just glad he's not going to the Giants.

You also have to factor in the possability of the Texans moving up to the #1 spot and taking Charles Rogers. Such a move would more than likely cost the Texans their 3rd round pick which is where most teams are considering taking McGahee.

Honestly, I'd rather have Rogers than McGahee at this point, especially in light of the Mack signing. Carr and Rogers would need time to develop timing and trust, and we ain't making the playoffs next year, anyway (much to my chagrin). We can always get our franchise back when we're really ready to make some noise. I sincerely hope Casserly is exploring trade options... upward, not down.

Mack is definitely a short-term fix. Otherwise, the Texans would have signed him for more than just one year. I still think we're going to draft an RB this year. However, with Mack on board, I don't think it'll be in the second round now (that spot is reserved for either a safety, a DT, or some O-line help, IMO). If one of the middle-of-the-pack RBs (guys like Chris Brown, Onterrio Smith, or maybe rising prospect Musa Smith) falls to the third round, I can totally see us taking an RB there. The point is, with Mack around, RB is no longer a super high priority. It's been downgraded to just... high.

This is a short term fix, but me likes...

I like the point of swapping with the Bungels to get Rogers...

We need an impact player and he would provide that...Can you imagine getting a receiver that can actually catch the ball...;)

I would our #3 plus a 3rd round for the #1...The Bungels would still get their QB, which is what they need...I hope they choose Leftwich...

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Lee Suggs is another option as well. I would definately make the move for Rogers if the opportunity presents itself.

Personally I perfer Leftwich over Palmer too. He's been more consistent over a longer period of time and he may not be as mobil as Palmer but neither were/are Aikman, Bledsoe, or Marino and last I checked they've had pretty decent careers.
