The C2D will run fine for a while. Core i3s are barely more powerful than C2D. If you really want an upgrade in terms of processing power, Core i5 over C2D is the only way you'll get it. A MBP 13 is more powerful than your average windows Core i3 laptop.

I had the same laptop you did when I made the switch to MBP13. Once you get used to it, there is no way you would want to go back. MBP13's are just so fresh. The look, the feel, the speed, and everything else about it is just so bad ass. Also, the customer service is very good at the Apple store. Any problem you have (even if you don't have the applecare, but are under the first year Apple warranty) they will fix your problem on site. I am a Mac for life. (Feel free to rep me for that last comment)
Let me be the first one to Bebop this thread. JK. I had a Mac G4 desktop but gave it away as I always wanted to go back to my Windows PC. Oddly enough, I got it back when they decided to go back to a PC, too. lol. I then bought a Macbook 13" a couple of years ago. I used it basically as a netbook. Had no problems with it other than the case cracking (which apparently was a defect that others have had problems with - so it may be bulletproof, but it ain't crackproof!). I got an i7 HP Elitebook a couple of months ago and have really stopped using the Macbook altogether. I really can't say anything bad about the laptop, but everything I wanted to do, I just kept gravitating back to my Win 7 machines. Part of it was the screen size since most of the stuff was easier to do on a larger screen (HP laptop is 15.6" and desktop pc is a multi-monitor setup with 24" and 20" monitors). If I wanted a bigger Macbook, I would've had to pay out the yingyang for one and I didn't want to especially since Macs didn't have the i7's yet. Even if they did, there was no bang-for-the-buck to me as it would've been priced too high. For what you're doing, a C2D should be ok. An i3 or i5 would've probably been better. To be honest, you probalby should've asked these questions before you bought the thing, though.
you'll get used to the interface. as far as notebooks go, i liked macs the best. as far as keeping ur warranty and hard drive is concerned, just keep the stock HD and change it out with a 1 TB aftermarket HD. i stick to Western Digital but everyone has their preferences. If a problem occurs and you need to take it in to the apple store swap the HD back to the stock one. same with RAM. or you can just spend the extra money and max everything out. less hassle but quite pricey. the macbook pros are fairly sturdy and not as easily dirtied as the lower end Macbooks. i had a white macbook and that thing got dirty easily. get screen protection and a carry case. just in case. good luck and enjoy. in before the PC fanboys...almost
I saw this right before I bought it today. The shipment comes in on Monday. Excited. Do you guys know where I can purchase a shell and screen protector for cheap.
