I'd rather buy one good Mac every several years than have to keep replacing a PC every couple of years. In the end, between replacement parts, hours of frustration (both in application use and maintenence), and an overall unsatisfactory/unfulfilling experience... paying a little extra for a Mac is completely worth it. Quality over quantity my friends.
I've had two Macs in the same time my inlaws have owned 5 computers. My G4 is almost 6yrs old and running great.
not only that.. I havent restarted my MacbookPro in... last.. 4 - 5months ? I dont even remember.. It hasnt crashed on me yet since the purchase back in Feb.
Apples are definitely better if you can afford one. I wish I could. I don't get all the hate toward Macs from PC-users.
I don't either, a bunch of Bill Gates loving junkies. That said there isn't much variation between them now as far as compatability. I use both and prefer a Mac in everyday uses because I like the interface more. It's like arguing who has the best fast food burger
Disagree. You actually pay more for the equivalent power in a Mac. You also pay more for the 'sexy' of a Mac. Where Mac misses out is the software library, particularly games and open source apps. Also, if your Mac is acting up, you have to schedule an appointment with a 'Genius' -facepunch-
Not really, since there are quantifiables to measure here. And as far as personal preferences go... From what I have seen, the PC to Mac transition is a one way street... and it doesn't flow in the opposite direction for a reason...
There are valid reasons, many stemming from Mac owners acting like snotty douches about their computers. (see earlier posts in this thread blasting PC users for not getting a free imaginary Mac)
False. You pay more because it is designed, engineered, constructed and IIRC even manufactured in-house. As opposed to a PC, which is usually like frankenstein's monster.. peiced together from parts taken from the lowest bidder in Terjakistan. Open source giveth, and open source taketh away... for all the variety of programs that you get in Windows, the majority of them are absolute garbage that are not worth your time.. whereas the inward design process at Apple creates fewer programs that work more efficiently and effectively. And Apple's tech support, even via email and phone, are the BEST I have ever dealt with... and this is coming from a guy who has spent time on the phone with Babaganoosh in Pakistan trying to fix my Packard Bell/Compaq/HP/Dell since 1996... If the best argument you can come up with is that Apple's name for their tech guys is kinda douche-baggy, then well, that's... kinda true
What piece of crap PC did you buy??? My PCs have always lasted, until they needed to replaced due to technology advances. I know quite a few people that got talked into Macs in college and couldn't wait to get back to PC and sold their Macs on Ebay, to buy a PC. I don't really like the Macbooks, aside from their look. Macs a popular for the same reason Pepsi became popular. I guess I'm just not hip with it.
i dont see why people have to argue about which one is the best and then try to get everybody to switch to it.. use what YOU like. the simple things in OS X annoy me..or i guess i been spoiled by windows. like the taskbar vs dock. i hate the dock with a passion. minimize, maximize on the left side of a window maximize in Windows actually full screens vs. this wierd expanding behavior in os x. the one bar file menu up top in os x for all applications..arrgh. there are simple things like those that irritate me. apple users have this cult like behavior. like they feel the need to tell everyone they have the best product to justify the cost or something. i dont go tell everyone my sony tv is the best or put down people with inferior products. also i feel like i have no control over repairs. i got to run to the genius dude for everything.
see previous posts in this thread blasting mac user for "blowing money on glassy crap" and "never listening [to apparently unsnotty pc "douches"?] on "glorified notebooks" and wishing OP luck on "ever doing anything real" on said macbook now run along dolt
how many pc makes are there? how many mac makers? if OSX was so good then they dont they release it to use on other machines? 1. no one would pay premium for their hardware. 2. the flaws will come out when you have to write a gazillion drivers. stop for a second and see if you hate windows or you just hate the maker of the hardware. dont blame microsoft for dell using cheap parts.
Do you even know what a Netbook is? If you don't, please stop wasting my time and acting like you understand what any of us are saying. A Netbook is not a Notebook. Please, don't even consider it to be a notebook, it's barely even in that class. That's like having a bumper sticker that reads "I'm a proud owner of a Celeron processor". Any form of design, video editing, photo, have fun doing it on a machine that isn't geared for that. Anything other than office and web, have fun, it won't happen. Trying installing a game, or getting the latest drivers for a device, that'll be fun. Try buying something outside the Apple family and get it working, that's always a hoot. PC's are a hassle to idiots because they are much much more compatible with the world around them. You obviously have a hard time understand what any of us are saying, so maybe macs are the way to go for you, I never said they weren't, just have fun doing nothing on that over rated paper weight. Yes, it is true that there are macs out there with Power, the price differential between those and a near equivalent PC is ungodly. Ironically, if the user wanted to do anything that uses power, they have to run parallels! But then again, it's probably lost on you.
This is the feeling I get around them, OP is much the same: <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VLpx_yioYik&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VLpx_yioYik&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>
Donny, you wrote this so authoritatively that I couldn't resist biting... Most laptops are made in Taiwan. Apple is a Quanta client. So is ACER, Alienware, Apple Inc., Cisco, Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, Gericom, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Maxdata, MPC, Sharp Corporation, Siemens AG, Sony, Sun Microsystems, and Toshiba. You can say Apple asks for higher specifications. Doesn't mean other companies demand Quanta and other laptop manufacturers to use the scraps for their parts. Open source isn't PC specific. If it were, you'd be out of a lot of good stuff like bittorrent, openoffice, firefox, and many other programs not officially supported by Steve Jobs... Well it's included in the price. Alienware sells nice gaming laptop/rigs for at least 2K. I think they bend over backwards to get my problems resolved too.
Jeebus save us. Dude got a macbook. He likes it. Let him be. The minute he says he likes it, all the mac-haters bash him and imply he's an idiot. Mac users back him up, even some of the people like myself who use both chime in and say "Hey if you don't mind paying a little extra they're nice" and the antimac zealots (who push the cult moniker on the mac fans) pile on. Why are you all so sensitive? Dude got a mac. He likes it. Is that so bad? To those that think it takes a 'genius' to fix a mac's problems. Not true. To those that think they aren't productive. Not true. To those that think all PCs are junk. Not true. It's different. Don't be afraid. These arguments sprout out of nothing, and are never productive.... except to expose those with blind predisposition for knocking others.
