haha...WMV files don't even work right on my Dell. Use VLC Player..works like a charm on my 2yr old Dell (work) and my 5yr old Mac.
Umm... ok... I didn't say ALL laptops that are 3 lbs or less cost 2-3 K... I said MOST do.. and yeah it's true. I researched it... when I was trying to buy a notebook. I don't work at the apple store, I don't know where you got that from... I own 2 pcs and this is my first mac, I've barely used my Mac... in fact, I barely know much about it so far. I don't know why you thought my comment was "snob"... what was so "snob" about it?
This is your quote. Show me where you say most. I never said you were a snob. Someone called me a snob. Also you are now the second person that has attributed my "work at an apple store" to themselves.
I always get the 3 year Thinkpad coverage. It is really cheap insurance against your machine blowing up or something.
I'll be at work on Wednesday if anyone wants to see me there. This is posted from my almost 6-year-old G5 desktop. It still runs like a dream.
i know lots of people with macbooks for over 2+ years and they say they get minimal problems and that they are pretty reliable
Being a IT guy and working on PC's all my life (have worked on macs back in the day) I just recently got a Macbook Pro 2.8 Ghz and I am truly impressed. The thing is so fluid and the way everything interacts is great. I personally hate touchpads on laptops and always hook up a trackball just cause it's easier, the built in multi touch functionality on the touchpad is so ridiculously good that I have yet to hook up my trackball. I have just began to scratch the surface with this thing since I got it only a week ago but I can't stop raving about it. Is it expensive...yes Is it worth it....depends on your budget
FYI - I am selling the 8GB iPod Touch I got in my MBP deal yesterday. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=174162
I have had several Thinkpad T series, and I just purchased a macbook pro. Honestly, I find both are excellent notebook. In fact, I wouldn't consider any other brands. So far, I'm found Mac OS X impressive. But there are some annoying things I haven't got used to - for example, you can only minimize a program ( or application in mac jargon), but you cannot just minimize a window of a application. I feel mac have a tendency of sacrificing functionality for atheistic.
You mean if you have two windows in firefox open, you cant just minimize on window? Thats what the little yellow dot between the red and green one are for. Or you could just click on the title bar...
try Apple Tab or messing with your dashboard/expose settings. you might be able to customize what you are looking for in your display... i'm not quite sure whatyou mean by minimizing an application. you can close a word document and word will remain open if you want to start a new one...
I haven't been able how to get my bookmarks to appear in a sidebar in Safari - like I have it set in Firefox on my pc. when i did a google search, the results i got back said that this was not possible without downloading third-party software. wtf? seriously?
Thanks, I'll be looking into that. Sometimes, When another window was hidden underneath, it's hard to tell it was there when I switching between applications by clicking dock icons. (Any solution to that?) and when I click the yellow minus, it minimizes both windows of the application.
1) Copied the wrong quote 2) I know I didn't specifically say MOST... but obviously there are some out there that might be less than 2 grand.. (the ****ty ones)... Trust me, from all the computers I searched for, I didn't find a laptop that was that low in weight and a good screen size while also being cheap. (That also included at least mid-to-upper specs). Sorry about the snob thing, you were responding to my comment so I assumed your whole post was directed at me, well... again what I said above, I thought you were talking to me.
