Already set up my appointment for the one and one, at willowbrook. Closer to my house, blathersby will the macbook pro be able to pick up my wifi from my netgear router, right of the box??
Incorrect... The 13" aluminum Pros have a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics cards - The same chip the cheapest 15" model has. The higher end 15" and 17" models have two graphics cards (9400 and 9600 chips).
Yeah, most definitely. I've used D-Link, Netgear, Linksys, and Belkin routers on my Mac. I finally got an Airport Express a couple of years ago. I'm using a Samsung monitor, a Logitech mouse, and I used to use an old keyboard from a Dell. You'll be able to use pretty much anything you've always used on it. The only thing that will change is that you use Mac versions of applications. If you head to Willowbrook, say hi to Jesus for me. He's a Genius there that I used to work with at the UNT computer labs. This is what I'm sending my baby sister to Texas A&M with:
While I'm not blathersby, basically yes, it will. Any regular PC these days would as well. As long as your network adapter is on and your Netgear router is broadcasting, it should be very easy to find. If your router is not setup for broadcast it's a couple of extra steps, but not bad. I've had a Macbook for web browsing in front of the tv for a couple of years now, and have had absolutely no problems with it. Didn't see a point at the time for going with the Pro model as I wasn't expecting to do any real work with it, and haven't regretted the decision. If you're not planning on doing much with the machine, I don't see the point in going Pro unless you prefer the Pro design.
This has been my experience as well. I bought mine just to learn the environment and goof off on it. The only thing I really do with it is surf the Internet every now and then and other than the crack on the keyboard that I guess a lot of people have gotten, I haven't had any issues with it.
I'm thinking of get a macbook pro for the heck of it. I see on the apple site that "Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard" will be available after 28th. How does these thing work? Will all Macs be equipped with the new OS x if I buy after 28th? Should I wait a couple more days?
The aluminum shells on the MBPs are super, super thin. Plus, MacBooks are not known for their reliability. The only real reason to purchase a Mac is to use OS X, and you can do that with some hackintosh.
The 9400M is an "integrated video chipset" and is forced to share the system RAM. This is a low-end option that's great for simple stuff like surfing, emails, document editing, and streaming basic media. Meanwhile the 9600 is a "discrete video chipset" and has its own dedicated pool of video RAM. This is a higher-end option that's great for the above, PLUS 3D graphics (gaming), HD video editing, and other high resolution activities.
I used to work on Mac's back in the day for grahpics, but always was a PC guy at home. I have had tons of laptops and kept telling myself I want a mac to just get one and see how much I really like it. I just ordered a Macbook Pro 15" (highest model with memory and graphics since I will use it) I'm excited to get it and check it out. I still have a Desktop as well as my mini Sony Vaio but I think it's just about time I changed it up
I'm thinking about buying one as well. Do you think its worth the extra money to get the 2.53GHZ vs the 2.26ghz 13" MBP? .27ghz doesn't seem like much, it just seems better to get the 2.26 and upgrade the HD and RAM.
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/8566DDR3S4GP/ For 4gb of memory for MBP $88. Do it Yourself, don't know if that will void the warranty?? Or just Add $100 for Apple to upgrade your system.
I was wondering since my sister is a college student and owns a computer business, will I be able to have her purchase the MBP for her to get the student discount of $100, recieve the ipod touch and use her tax ID to waive the tax during purchase?? Would she pay the sales tax by the end of the year or could she have an exempt stating she needs the laptop for line of work??? Also skimming thru ebay and came across this listing below, is this for real or bogus plans??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...20623&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1
Even if you get 10.5 on the one you get, the upgrade to 10.6 is only $28. I don't think you'll go broke.
I got my iMac in November 2007. It came with Tiger installed, but included a Leopard upgrade disk in the box. Leopard was released in October 2007. I suspect they will be doing something similar with Snow Leopard.
